A customer had 26T @£1300 delivered last year and converted the wood himself to firewood. This year he is not so keen on doing so again due to time and his wife's poor health.

What is the rough cubic conversation of that 26T as he wants a price for the equivalent I have already split and so wants to know the costings of this route.

About 1.8-2 loose cube to the Ton. I've had slightly more than that in the past off a 12"-16" diameter only 25t delivery though.

Thanks, so almost double in quantity at 46.8cu \1300= £36 cu?

Having a brain malfunction:confused1:

1300 divided by 26t is £50/t

1.8 cu m for £50 is £27.80 per cube, (for just the wood)

(unless Im having a brain fade as well)

He will be paying 3 times what it cost to do it himself.

If he wants to save more then he could still buy the load & the hire in a processor.

That would be about double the cost of doing it himself.

I get where you are going...

I would love to have 26 T but it takes up a lot of space/time and effort to process myself.

Maybe the chap values his time and laying out £1300 in one hit is a bit of a wallop too.

Seeing both sides....

All sounds cheap to me, maybe the answer if your chopping 16" diameter up for firewood is to sort it and sell it for milling

The cost of kiln dried joinery timber has gone thru the roof lately

Prime oak in 2" slabs £2600 a cube + vat!!
