Cut the butts of and have the digger for a 2nd day to dig a big hole to bury the roots or use the tops to have a nice big November 5th bonfire(it'll all be dry by then as well)

How long you got to get em out?... if you want to get em out cheap, an axe, a trench spade and a farm jack... maybe a couple of pry bars..

 

Get about ten out then take a break till you fancy doin some more..... won't take long once you get stuck in.....

 

As to where the stumps are goin, I expect the same place as the rest of the tree's....

80 stumps ??? Turfer, mini diggers, hand tools, !!!

 

Times money get a stump grinder in and grind em, job done in a day with one opp if site needs to clean you've only got one truck load of shavings

 

Start digging or pulling them out you'll have 4 truck loads of crap to despose off

OK .. I'll give a bit more detail.

 

The row of Leylandii is on a bank raised about 5' from ground level ... brick wall to front bank behind.

The top of the bank is approximately flat for the staggered row of Leylandii, then it slopes off at about 30 degrees down to a field ... mature mixed species trees all along this 'slope'.

 

No real option of getting a digger in.

 

The guy I had look at it advised it was easy enough to get his walk along tracked stump grinder up onto bank using some ramps .. then no problem working along the bank.

He advised tracked machine as in pic attached - can these be hired easy enough?

Why do the stumps have to be removed ? can you not plant in between them ?

The price you've been quoted is strong, get more quotes or bring someone in on the job who has the plant, it don't need to be a tracked grinder but to make light work of it and get the job done it needs to be min 20hp

Iv never seen or heard of any big grinders for hire without oparator, only the little toy town ones from hire shops, you'd be there for days working hard
