Good evening all.

We felled this Beech at the end of November and have had the stem sat in the yard since.

we are looking at selling the timber. Offers welcome.

Potential buyer will have to collect from Royston, Hertfordshire. Can arrange for timber to be lifted onto transport. it weighs approx 10tonne. This was judged on the cranes capacity being 10tonne and it only just managed to lift each side on the truck.

It's an impressive lump, but beech is tough to sell, in my experience. If you get £400-500 for it, you would be doing quite well.

If it's worth that amount I would be rich with the contents of my yard😁

I will post dimensions later. If someone can make better use out of it then its worth it rather than be turned into firewood IMO.

D you have any interest in. Keeping any of the milled timber?

I think you will struggle to get decent or even any money above fire wood value for it, I sold 6 artic loads of Lime, Oak and Ash, there was some beautiful Beech, but was too big, so they did not want it, ended up as firewood at £40 a tonne.

Tbh regardless of size coloured beech has never been in favour by mills.

White planking beech ,..mid 50s tonne delivered, oversize for blockwood same price. So as you say , firewood price.
