Pole Chainsaw

Thought the km130 was a 4mix engine though.

Sorry Matty my fault, my ht130 extendable pole saw from year 2000ish is an old fashion 2 stroke, my combined tool thingy km130r is the dry sump 4 mix.

Bloody stihl and their numbers!

Edit...my polesaw is an HT75. Sorry, how many errors can I make in this thread?

There are two other pole pruners too consider Ian and mull over

Makita EY-2650H 4-stroke

Dolmar ME-246.4 4-stroke

Both these are priced in between the echo and stihl I've had the echo and makita side by side and there are several thumbs up and down for both models

Why don't you go to a hire shop that specialises in O.P.E and hire a makita and see how it performs it has a longer reach than the Echo pruner you might be surprised

And that Dolmar 4-stroke is such a better motor than the stihl it's a genuine 360degree engine with oil pumped around by crankcase pressure and non return valves in the oil ways

Thanks for the info Andrew, I'm just not keen on the 4 strokes if I'm honest for this application as I think the vibe are worse than a 2 stroke also I know your service is excellent but my dolmar has been anything but reliable sinse I have had it.

I was asked to demo the Makita pole saw.

It is superb. I struggle after two years to cause damage to it.

Honestly and genuinely worth a look. Vibrations are low in my opinion. Fuel economy is great.

Can not fault it in any capacity weight wise and reliability.

Not to be sniffed at, love it.

Four stroke Stihl engines - most issues are from the valve clearances being too large. Run the engine on part or full synthetic and check the valve clearances regularly otherwise it becomes a bitch to pull over and wont idle!

Thanks for the info but I'm not sure about the 4 strokes also my Dolmar that I bought new from Andrew has been terrable from a reliabability point of view, in fact my lads won't use it as they don't want to be the next one to brake it!

From the horses mouth! Why complicate things with 4 strokes .

Ian when I gave you a courtesy call in august to see how things where , I was disappointed to hear you've been having running issues since February with the saw I sold you , i would have sorted them out ASAP rather than let it drag on for months costing you down time and money

But hopefully now Ian the saw will be ok and run good it has a new piston and cylinder and various other bits it tuned in well and ran fine

Thanks :thumbup::thumbup:
