Im a newly started out business been operating 3 years I work with many different people so dont have any permanent staff.

I have been told my accountant as i have self employed climbers and grounds staff working for me that I need to sign up for the HMC CIS Scheme where basically i have to pay there tax out of their wages.

it is a construction industry scheme so does it apply to tree work ?

thanks

You can't get around registering as a subcontractor, but registering as a contractor? Bend over, no lube.

So if your subbie can turn up with a load of qualifications , a saw or two, and a bag full of ropes, why cant he invoice for professional services like your accountant who turns up with a pad and a pencil?

Cis isn't that bad once you get used to it

Plus it's safe guards you if one of your submission doesn't pay his tax

Without Cis a subbie could claim he is employed and thought you were making deductions and then hmrc will come at you for his tax when he doesn't pay his bit

It doesn't strictly cover Tree work but if you do any work for builders / landscapers that work on construction sites, you can join the scheme
