No trimmers. Loving these therapeutic Japanese tools. A joy to work with. I love the way it slows down your workflow and you can take great pride of doing a proper job. The crispness of the cuts is something you can't get from trimmers.

A few hours. I had my lad annoying the neighbours with the German tools. The hedge right-angles round the back of the shed in image two, so there was more work than what is shown in the images. A few larger stems had to be lopped. Good results can be had with German tools, but the best cuts can only be done the slow and old-fashioned way.

Sure, won't make a tuppenceworth of difference to the regrowth though.

Best way is take a good petrol hedge cutter and cut that down in 4 or 5 sweeps so the little bits fall through the hedge and you don't have to clear them up.

this :thumbup1:

actually i'm jealous as I wished I had customers who would allow me to fanny about for a few hours over the hedges i do and still pay my hourly rate !
