Hi Ian,

Been mostly using hand saw, hand held jigsaw and model makers small fret. I'm just building the workshop and will be investing in an Axminster/ Jet band saw.

Did you cut the the drawers using a bandsaw? Do you cut the core out and then put a blank in the base?

I have an Axminster Jet Lathe and have been really impressed with the build quality.

Yes the boxes are all done on the bandsaw out of one piece of wood. I've looked on utube and there are some videos there, just type in bandsaw box. I've got a jet lathe too , very well built. My bandsaw is a record power.

Thanks. It can with a very short rest so keeping an eye out for a longer one. I am just doing it for relaxation and wind down after work at the moment. Something very relaxing about making a shape and smoothing it and watching the grain come out.

NIce work mate, well done.:thumbup1:

I've only just started turning and this thread has been very informative thanks.

Here's a couple of the things I've had a go at. Pretty basic really but teaching myself. I am running a Clarke with 5 speed. The rest isn't up to much though which is proving problematic!

The rest won't tighten properly to the pole so there's some lateral movement. Really I new to service it and replace a few parts.

Pretty sure first is ash yes. I bought a box of 10 rounds at auction in Ledbury. None labelled. The second is walnut. That was really nice to work with.

I have some rounds of eucalyptus seasoning in saw dust in the garage at the moment too. Tried a piece of cherry but that's hard to work with. Big chunk came off. Was hoping to make a band to fit into this to give an unusual look.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362905611.143435.jpg.8d2b918837e19df8e36904e5592ef35c.jpg
