So you are going to object to my post on account of it being personally offensive, but not explain why you do not think that religion is nonsense?

 

To tie it back to the original thread, religion plays a huge part in the US election, so I think the point is valid.

Eloquently put, and I hope that you can see that my simplistic remark relating to the dissolution of Israel was made with my tongue firmly in my cheek. The solution is a complicated one, but I do believe that no solution will ever be reached until Israel stops breaking international law and perhaps even if it is accepted that whilst Israel does exist, it's creation would never have occurred in the 21st century.

 

 

 

Regarding religion, I have no issue with continually highlighting the fact that it is nonsense. Like the belief in the world being flat, it is an antiquated and scientifically baseless belief that dearly hope I'll see the decline of in my lifetime.

 

 

Or the equally implausible belief that "all of this just happened completely by accident and random chance"

 

You forgot to mention Palestinian rockets fired from schools as well while we're on the subject of breaking laws.

It always comes back to your superiority complex ref religion. Hey, you know what, rather a few people disagree with you. Your belief system is a religion in itself anyway.

Accepting that modern science is indeed a belief system, I would rather put my faith in a peer reviewed and constantly challenged and contested structure of belief than a dogmatic doctrine that not only seeks to perpetuate beliefs that are patently wrong, but also stands against progress of every kind.

 

I strongly believe that children having religion forced upon them is a form of child abuse. It has been proven that religious children have a poorer ability to distinguish between make believe and what is real.

 

Regarding Palestine, I do not condone the actions you describe, but you have to understand it within the context of an oppressed people lashing out in whatever way they feel they can against an ever victorious, gar better equipped and funded oppressor. I don't think any of us would know how we would react until we were subjected to the day to day humiliation that the Palestinians endure.

Because when it comes down to it your beliefs are based on your faith in "educated" guesswork. It's not what you believe in that I find arrogant , J it's the way you look down on others who don't share your opinions.

Many of my relatives died in the Nazi Holocsust, so you can spare me the lecture on oppression. I don't agree with everything that Israel does.

In just the same way that I don't agree with everything that Churchill did in his early days. I'm still glad for them though.

I have a very hard time being diplomatic regading religion given the vast destruction it causes on a global scale, as well as the huge suffering for millions of individuals around the world.
