In the aftermath of Trump’s victory, Goldman Sachs cut its UK growth forecast from 1.6 per cent to 1.4 per cent for next year, blaming the negative impacts of tariffs.

 

The Centre for Inclusive Trade Policy (CIPT) said that, if Trump’s policies were implemented, total UK goods and services exports to the US could fall by between £19 billion and £34 billion. At its highest level this would represent a 4 per cent drop in total UK global exports.

Mate... if we ignore absolutely every other factor and facet of the election, all the felonies and rape and laughing too much, and focus solely on what either the Republics or the Democrats have done or intend to do or intended to do over their terms in office with regards to the global challenge of climate change, there is a fairly obvious choice for who would be better for the long-term health of the planet. That isn't even a question, and is freely acknowledged by literally everyone involved; it forms a core part of the impending Republican agenda. My sincere apologies if you genuinely didn't understand this, but it kind of feels like you are trying to score some a point of some sort here... when there really isn't one to be won.

I reckon she should have said that all golf players ate cats and dogs; that seems to be the level of discourse these days. And aye, I completely agree that saying that a political party is going to do something other than they had for the last term is more than a little bit shit.

So you really think Kamala would have stopped the Chinese building, god knows how many coal plants a mo th just to support their desire for all things electric?

 

What did the Dems do about that in the last 4 years, skip 4 and then the last 8 before that?

 

As I mentioned I am not really a Trumper.  Or a Republican or even a Democrat.  
 

They are just a puppet / party in charge and I think anyone who believe they are the actual ones making the decisions is pretty naive.

 

Money talks.  Decisions will be made that make people the most money.

The thing is, Trump is a flippant fool.  He knows a little bit about a lot, but not the finer details.

 

He says they are eating cats and dogs in wherever.  Koreans eat dogs Haitians eat cat IIRC.  It is then reported that he says people are eating cats and dogs down there…

 

Same with the COVID and bleach comments.  Again, he was vilified for that statement and if people actually started injecting themselves with bleach then that’s pretty bad.  But there is a element of truth in the statement, or at least the chemical components of both bleach and the treatment he was discussing.

 

As I said he is very flippant and the way he speaks is easy to take sound bites and make it come across as it does.

 

Then all the virtual handwringing starts.

With regards to your last point quoted here, I fully understand, and despite being painted as such for whatever reason by a big crowd of people on here, I'm actually not that keen on Kamala Harris myself, but in a two party system you really do have to go with the lesser of two weevils. Harris is just such a weevil.

 

To your other point, if you really want I can find a graphic or something on Google images that compares their record over time, but again, the different approaches taken towards climate change by the Repubs and the Dems have been made abundantly clear over time, that is to say: absolutely nothing contributing to anything worthwhile whatsoever, but acceptance and lip service and token gestures is, truth be told, a damn sight better than denial, obfuscation, and sabotage. 

So yeah, I'll take the smaller weevil who occasionally checks the weather forecast, any day of the week. Because it's better than nothing!
