The trailer I got from Chris Pearce, although made to woodland mills design needed some alterations to make it safer to transport the mill.

Clamps to lock the mill in place have been fitted as well as removable wheel arches for when loading trunks, just got to make the ramps and winch attachment then good to go.

Cool:001_cool: Keep it locked up mind......

for something to be classed as a trailer, it has to fit into one of the "O" catagories, O1, O2. O3, or O4, theses are the weight carrying capacities, now as a sawmill, it cant carry any weight as its a piece of specialist plant, so how can you IVA test it when it doesnt have a recognised catagorie, it is in the same group as agricultural implements that are towed, and as long as it has suspension, brakes (if applicable), and correct tyres, it isnt restricted to 25mph. checkout the trailer section in the 1985 construction and use act, with the various ammendments as applicable..........

The O categories are Maximum Authorised Mass, not weight carrying capacities.

Category O1: Trailers with a maximum mass not exceeding 0,75 tonnes

Category O2: Trailers with a maximum mass exceeding 0,75 tonnes but not exceeding 3,5 tonnes.

From the VCA website.

I think you are barking up the wrong tree, if it's got wheels and tow hitch it's a trailer, and it needs Type Approval or IVA if it's a one off.

if your that bothered about IVA crap...I refurbished an old trailer and am using that.......proove otherwise, they cant end of argument

I'm not bothered about IVA in the slightest, but I wouldn't want someone getting prosecuted after taking my advice, when that advice turned out to be incorrect.

I did get stopped by plod recently, with an obviously brand spanking new trailer on, and the first thing they wanted to know was if I had the CoC. As I'd just picked it up from the dealer I had it in the truck. Shows the police know about it and are actively looking for it.

Just wondering how noisy these are as thinking of putting the petrol version in my concrete block workshop about 25 yards away from neighbours with insulation and cladding. It will only be used in the workshop as a hobby the odd week day but would like the option of using it on site if needed to. Also can the track be made shorter say to seven to eight feet. Going to treat myself for my big fifty this year sawmill or Harley er in doors not happy with Harley save that for 60th.

It's about the same noise as a large petrol lawnmower.

The rails come in 6' lengths but the head unit takes up 2'.
