The exact same subject of Fridays heated arguement whilst driving home with my business partner.

He is always falling for this line from clients who say 'Do me a good price on this site clearance and there will be more work later'

There never is more work.

You do the job for no profit and the client moves on to the next mug.

Another my business partner believes is

'don't respond to clients too quickly or they will think you need the work badly'

He must have been a Parisien waiter in a past life...

Guy i subbed for couple of times was guilty of that,under pricing jobs just to get the work,of course we suffered having to go like madmen to get the job done quick to at least come out with some profit.

Not heard a dickie bird off him in 7 months...

Exactly that Ty.

I had a woman recently tell me that the job is really big so I should price it really 'keenly' to get it.

I asked her why I should work for her, four days with a team of five, for tiny profit when I could work for other people and make good profit as I'm neck deep in work.

She looked aghast so I walked off.

Brilliant!
