  2. Hey everyone. Had one of my mates over with his Sthil 018 as it wasn’t starting. Sorted that (carb kit) but noticed it was leaking chain from around the sprocket. Took a closer look and the sprocket has worn the plastic away and made a hole through to the oil pump. Is there a fix for this other than replacing the case? What would cause this?
  3. Maybe not Mick, I'm no legal expert so maybe I'm just being duped by the insurance companies telling me I can be liable for negligence in either written or verbal advice. Don't really care, I'm covered either way.

Free to leave woodchippings for garden use, please contact prior. Turn right down track at the animal sanctuary. Leave chippings in a pile at the bend in the drive (where marked on map). Thank you!
  7. Their show is on at Westonbirt in a couple of weeks.
  8. We have 3 accessible entrances with 5 bar gates - please call to confirm which gate 07780970938
  9. I guess they'd stand you up in court and ask you what you said, I have PI as part of the policy so not aiming to find out. As I understand the potential problem is an insurance company looking to recover damages after a payout, if they think there's liability they are likely to claim no matter if the tree/home owner is a nice person or not.

  11. There's only one Greenmech chipper in France. It just moves between mechanics a lot.
  12. Saleen we’re the only chippers/shredders I saw when I first came here. Lots of TW/Forst/GM being pulled around now. Tells its own story.

  14. How can you be held liable for verbal advice? How would they prove it?
  15. I would but it's with the mechanic. I was chatting to him on the phone and he said that despite the size of the machine, they're not that good at pulling material in. This seems extreme though? I'd expect to be able to throw an armful of 1 to 2ft long Leylandii tips onto the belt, maybe spread them out a bit and let the machine do the rest - short of one being at a funny angle and blocking the rest that sometimes happens of course. What happens is we spread them on the belt a little, the roller doesn't get hold of them and then the whole lot gets bunched up as it is brought to the roller by the conveyor. We reverse it, spread them out, keep trying to spread them out with one pressing the reverse and the other trying to spread it out so the machine gets a tiny bit at a time. Then the roller doesn't grab a bit, it all bunches up and we need to reverse and start the process again. I think I remember a thread (was looking before buying) where you (Mick) didn't hold either Saelen or Bugnot in high regard over there? Can't remember exactly so I might be mistaken, but struggle to believe they're this bad and there's not something else going on? Cheers.
  16. Thanks for all the reply’s. Out off all the above what has the best set of feed rollers and grabbing strength.
  17. Regardless of maintenance some machines will always go bang as everything on them is too highly strung… I know a lad who spends an hour every night religiously on maintenance and has had more breakdowns on his brand new machines than I would of believed possible and wasn’t certainly down to abuse either. I think most machines these days perform pretty equally, but I think for me longevity and reliability with ease of maintenance is most important… along with dealer support of course.
  18. You definitely need it for that, but you can also be held liable for verbal advice - so the normal 'is my tree safe' question you get asked walking around gardens is a minefield if you have no cover. Don't think it's an issue for gardening though.

Wood Chips needed for some home gardening requirements, to go on some overgrown land.
  20. It is like that, but worse! Yes if I feed a trickle through then it'll generally just about take it, but it's over a ton of machinery and performs about as well as an electric garden shredder.
  21. There's a couple of companies near me how have gone Jensen A520 after using Forst and Timberwolf, there is a Jensen agent/agri dealer less then 4 miles from them so many be why, or like when I went there for a chainsaw helmet part as I was that way chipper sales man spotted me and then got me to look at chippers, he could sell sand to Arabs. Was over looking a farm which 3 tree companies run out of mixture of chippers Timberwolf, GreenMech and Jensen in yard would be a good place to ask what they thought of them.
  22. There is a gap in the fence next to the car park on the right after you pass the main building. Just dump it in there, we have equipment so we can tidy it up but truly to keep it in a pile.
