One would also assume the needle cage bearing are made of glass fibre not just for strength but effectively a glass bearing surfaces against the stainless needles. They do make glass bearings for that reason, no lube ever required, usually the cage fails before the glass beads.

Spot on. If you're going to grease, then do it weekly , to the point of squeezing out the excess dust and shit contaminated crap out, replacing with fresh clean grease. Wipe off grease nipples/torx bolts first to keep everything clean, and don't drag the nozzle of your grease gun through all the dust and gravel in your yard. Fail here and your just injecting grinding paste straight into the heart

You couldn't make the undercarriage for £1500. How on earth is a full machine coming from the other side of the world for that?

I managed to get the saw started on idle, but when revs were applied and released it cut out and the fuel was leaking out of the air filter housing.

A mate keeps going on about a Chinese digger (with a Kubota engine apparently - I'll believe that when I see it) that he can get delivered for £1500. It's just going to be 1.5 tonnes of disappointment and breakdowns, spending a fortune on new fluids and hoses and then ending up with something nobody will buy, that you can't bear to run in for scrap.

Hi again. No, there's no priming bulb. I'm starting to think it might be the breather pipe. Got my head baffled. I've checked the metering and needle valve on both carburettors and they both seem fine and free from any wear. The adjustment seems fine also. I've eliminated any problem with the compression and ignition. This is definitely a fuel/air problem.

I think I've been engaging in bellendery and confused the two measurements on the feeler gauges. So with a cool head I reset the valves cold then ran it up and reset them warm. It now runs better but lots of resistance on starting, to the point of snatching the starter cord. Tick over still a little high with it coughing at times. VID_20250816_124754.mp4

Harder on Stihl. Had to (carefully) grip the splines on the clutch drum with water pump pliers and tap those to drift the drum off. Doing it often would unduly mar the splines. None of the manuals had any less destructive ideas.

I generally grow the things that I cant buy readily here in the shops, very hot chillis, Padron peppers, and oddly, mange tout. This year I’m growing Okra for the first time, so far dead easy, lush plants just starting to produce an abundant crop, pretty flowers also.

The article could have been better written, sounds like a marketing company with zero understanding as it's a very poorly written reasonings. What they should have said as the AA. We proactively work with our members to ensure high standards are maintained within the industry and would withdraw membership on such flagrant rule breaking etc.

Former friends Adam Carruthers and Daniel Graham have begun a four-year and three-month prison sentence after being found guilty of two charges of criminal damage, one to the tree and one to Hadrian’s Wall when the tree fell on it in September 2023. And speaking in the wake of the pair’s sentencing last month, officials at the AA were keen to point out the difference between a ‘tree surgeon’ and a fully trained and qualified arborist. A statement from the AA read: “We welcome the judicial system’s response to the destruction of this heritage tree, and we are encouraged by the public’s deep appreciation of the importance of trees for individuals, communities, and society. In this context, the expertise and knowledge of tree care professionals has never been more important. “We note the judge’s description of the men convicted in this case as ‘experienced tree surgeons’. This is an important point for clarification. Anybody can call themselves a ‘tree surgeon’ but, although this term is generally understood, it is not one that guarantees a level of competence or professional integrity. I always grease the nose sprockets of my saws, all my saw run aftermarket bars (Sugi/Tsumura) once the stock bar has worn. Get back to the workshop, sharpen the chains, clean air filter, blast all the crud out of the side casing/guidebar groove and grease up on reassembling, never had a nose sprocket failure in 30 years. Needle bearing probably once a week/fortnight, takes two seconds with Husqvarna no point in not doing it.

Or receiving a machine that’s about a foot long.

I can just see that ending with you being a grand down in some Chinese account and receiving nothing.
