I know, I’m not without blame, could/should have done that.

Equally you could have pre-qualified him during the initial phone call stating the minimum price the job would need to be to be worth your time at that distance. (But this is why they are called cuntstomers to be fair…)

Had one today, been pushing stump grinding a bit lately as I have a new machine. I get a call from 45 minutes away, long way for a price but hey ho. As I’m rained off today I arranged to go over after lunch. Nice bloke, row of Leylandii, 20 odd, decent size, nothing massive but a good mornings work with 1.5 hours travelling etc. I quote €780 inclusive. He says too much, he can hire a digger for 200 and pay a bloke 200 to dig them out. Fine says I, shake hands and get in the truck. Then I said to him. ’I have driven 45 minutes to be here, now if you’d have said over the phone, I can get it done by a mate for 400€ I’d have said get your mate to do it, I cannot bring the grinder over here and do it that cheap, and we’d all have saved time and money’ He looked a bit sheepish in fairness. Don’t get me wrong, quotes are free, it’s a service industry and you have to take the rough with the smooth, but it can sting a bit sometimes.

Do you have a pic of the lever mechanism? Can one not simply chop off the linkage that goes to the second lever?

Can't go wrong with Falteimer mate, mines outlasted every other one I've owned. I've got one of the circular courant ones too which is decent as it doesn't fold up and twist your throwline. I'm using Zing-it which has been my preferred line to date and just the cheap notch bags in a few different weights. -

Yes it's surprising what a small drop of water in the carb can do. -

That’s exactly it Chris, they’ve been built as single lever machines for sensible people then swapped out to HSE-Nazi spec.

Suitably chastised. Understood.

Thanks to all who’ve commented so far. I’m pretty sure these valves would have come with the levers to wherever the splitters were built as the bracket is still bolted to the front of the valve. I did contact Rock if they were able to supply the lever but was informed they couldn’t??? I’ve found a few handles on-line but don’t really want to pull the pin until I’m confident it will fit. If there were some part numbers on the valve it would help to establish who manufactured them, then I could go to them direct and ask-I havnt looked properly yet for part numbers. Anyway, I’m sure we’ll get this sorted soon….even if I have to make a lever myself.👍
