Hydraulic pipe burst

Had a pipe go on the Unimog today and cannot get the union to budge due to corrosion, if I do manage to get it off I know it's going to break the connector. I will the get all the pipes changed as they all look like they have seen better days but I could do with using the mog tomorrow (Saturday).

I know there are fittings availble to temporary repair flexi pipes, has any one used them and are they any good.

Try a long extension bar if there is room, it will give you alot more control on the amount of pressure you need to exert.

IME its better to repair properly when hyd pipes are involved. Put the job aside and fix it properly.

A farm mate lent us a repair kit when we made our log splitter . We done 3 of our own connections . It's like a plumbers cutting twists tool which embossed the metal on to flexi pipe. Never been a problem and dry as a bone. Our splitter has done 150 ton of cord. Off a Grunty 13 hp lister.

Have you tried the "two hammer technique" to loosen it?

Heat will help if you can get a torch near it without damage.

I've used Pertex in the past, not cheap, but come to you and work 24/7.

Screw in hydraulic fittings/couplings work perfectly well, especially if the hyd hose is neatly cut with a "plamsa" disc.

Just remember about the Left hand thread:blushing:

(Well I was salvaging an old fitting to reuse.)

I have also successfuly welded steel fittings, with an ord arc welder/ ord rods, a make do and mend that has lasted for years.
