hay stocks could be short this year due to a shortage of grass which will in turn push the price up (supply and demand)

This season the grass just hasn't grown, the snow we had earlier on in the year hasn't done it any good

i've baled alot of silage, haylage and hay, so far the crops haven't been too bad but they could of been better, some of the grass is burning off and dying.

hopefully this rain will help

got ours done last weekend cut friday, baled it saturday - hay made in one day almost unheard of, but the crop was so sparse and thin it soon baked it dry - our silage was not much better, what looked like a field of 5ft grass was cut but all leggy nothing in the bottom. silage round here set to go to about £15 a bale from £8.50 last year if this continues, no rain has meant a very poor crop and no doubt straw will rise too already at £85-£100 a tonne
