How about it?

Silly idea or fun and useable?

I have a good runner with an oil leak, runs a little fast on tickover.

How about a strip and rebuild to keep it working with a power boost.

Your thoughts, derogatory or otherwise ,welcome.

Saw cost me nothing.

Check the accuracy of this but when I asked the same question re an MS230 a man what knows told me it wasn't a good idea as many (?all) small 2-stroke engines are of clamshell construction and not really up to the stresses of being ported.

also dont the 170's have non adjustable carbs?

Make it a 171 then, adjustable carb but still a pig to do any work on and still a clamshell which I think means the squish can't be adjusted. (:screwy: Prepares to be corrected)

Ajustable carbs from the 210/230/250 carbs can be made to fit.

Other option is to fit a 180 piston and cylinder as they are a nats ball bigger (1mm I think) and port that but then that would involve money.

They are easy to work on just a tadge time consuming. Having a cordless drill and t27 torq bit in it saves lots of time....
