  2. I have read a few posts from people in my position taking a change in career. I am 36 now and am aware that I am not going to be the strongest climber for much longer. I am half way through the NPTC Tree Surgery course at Kilmarnock College. I have my climbing, rescue and chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting tickets and am looking for some opportunities to gain some more experience. By the end of the course which finishes in June I will have my small and medium felling and aerial cutting tickets also. I would like to gain some work experience and start earning asap and so have been contacting some of the larger companies who are more lightly to provide additional training. I have also contacted the smaller companies. I have looked on ArbJobs.Com but there is no drop down for Scotland in the regions selector. I am interested in developing my climbing and cutting skills and am aiming to develop my skills with a view to a career in forestry and conservation. Any guidance or advice you can offer would be appreciated. All comments and suggestions welcome.
  3. Hello, I am currently studying a level 3 arboriculture and forestry diploma and have almost finished the first year. I have all my PPE, experience climbing, felling and am working with a tree surgeon aswell as having carried out conservation work. I am enquiring if anyone has any work or work experience around the Colchester/ Essex area. I am currently in full time employment as a chef. I am able to send a cv. Thank you for your consideration, Jeremy
  4. I am student currently studying level 3 Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture in North Wales. I am in my final year and nearly finished and looking to gain experience into the arboricultural sector around the North wales area. I hold my basic chainsaw up to 38mm and strimmer/brush cutter tickets and will have my high ropes with chainsaw and pesticide tickets soon.
  5. Good morning good folks of arbtalk! My name is Adam, I currently live in Wakefield and am going through the process of leaving the RAF and hoping to gain a career in arboriculture. I am booked in to gain my qualifications (CS30, 31, 38, 39, 40, 41, 50) in June from TKF Training in Holmfirth as part of resettlement through the armed forces. To that end I am unqualified as an arborist but would however like to offer my services ground working or labouring for somebody in order to gain some experience within the industry. I am willing to travel, within reason, and look forward to getting stuck in. If anyone has any questions or advice feel free to give me a shout. Thank you, Ad.
  6. Hey, Thanks for adding me to the forum I’m looking for some part time or casual work in the Manchester or Stockport area. I’d like to gain some climbing experience by working with competent climbers. I come with my own gear and transport, and work as a self-employed gardener, so I’m good to subcontract. I just started doing some climbing jobs as part of my business. I have CS30/31/38/39, first aid, bushcutter, pesticides, and an RHS lev 2 and city & guilds lev 2 in horticulture... Casual doesn’t seem to be quite the right word for tree work
  7. Hi, I'm looking to get some hands on experience with a tree surgeon/arborist near Glasgow, but will travel further afield. I'm 27, fit and reliable with full clean license and car. I will be hopefully getting my basic chainsaw certs (CS30+31) early next month and plan on getting more as I gain experience. Looking for any opportunity to learn. I have used chainsaws in past while volunteering in Sweden and Norway for basic estate maintenance work, processing firewood, harvesting Christmas trees, etc. And even worked with a chainsaw carver. I'd be prepared to work for free until it's been established that I'm worth having around. I work hard and don't mess around so know that in time I'll be an asset to any business. So if you fancy a free pair of hands for a few days work or if you are needing an apprentice/groundsman let me know. I''ll consider any offers. If necessary I'd be prepared to relocate if there was a good opportunity. Cheers, Richard 07933136253
  8. Hi, 27 year old guy looking for work experience with a business or individual in Glasgow. No tickets just yet but I own and use a chainsaw when the wood pile starts complaining too much. I have my own PPE as well. I'm prepared to volunteer my services for free until I've demonstrated that I'm going to be a reliable and solid worker. I'm not looking for any handouts just an opportunity to learn. May well be doing the Level 3 Arboriculture down at SRUC Dumfries end of Oct or might try and gain tickets individually if an opportunity presents itself. I've spent time in Norway with a chainsaw carver and some time in Sweden with a Welsh ex-forestry guy. We spent the summer building husky kennels out of the surrounding forest haha so I have plenty of experience on ground level. Thanks, Rich Mobile: 07933136253
