  1. I use forest crane loading and unloading firewood in warehouse. [ame] [/ame]
  2. I am interested in buying a hydraulic log deck for a posch s 360 but don't mind adjusting it to run of the machine anybody know of any anywhere?
  3. Has anyone ever made a heavy duty firewood deck with chains? Or any forsale?

  5. hello folks, new member here. hoping for some advice on where to go for firewood processors. already familiar with fuelwood, davies implements, m.large, riko, just found jas p wilson. am i missing anyone worth checking out? we are looking for a mobile firewood processor the likes of japa 300 be. used would be fab, or new but cheap (ha-ha!) thanks all!
  6. Hi guys, just thought i'd share something i've been working on, currently only in the planning stage though so please play nicely. I've been doing a bit of reseach into making my own custom castings for table legs, solid bronze similar to the hudson table that beyonce bought for $70,000 (photos of their tables are attached) the basis of my Foundry design is based around the artful bodger's waste oil furnace Home - The Artful Bodger's Home Foundry/ for which i take no credit, the guy's a genius. anyway I was busy adapting the plans of his foundry to suit a much larger scale bronze melt, when the idea suddenly struck me - why not use this same design i'd come up with that could melt 80kg of bronze within an hour - using nothing but waste oil and a small amount of electricity - to dry timber? I figured that my adapted foundry setup could heat a container sized kiln to just about any temperature i want to, with the temperature being controlled by some circuitry essentially reducing the output of the blower, and feeding less oil, this reducing the burn rate and temperature. garages and the like have to pay to get rid of waste oil, and I've noticed as soon as you mention that you're interested in it, they'll force upon you as much as you can possibly hope for. Now without going into the science of it, your average motor oil has 3 times the fuel density of the wood you're currently powering your kiln with, meaning you use a third of the fuel you're currently using, and this Doesnt accunt for the water content in that wood you're burning which would to let's say 50% of the overall mass of that wood, so in essense by burning oil you're saving six times as much timber to then put into the kiln to DRY, which can then be SOLD Now like i said, this is still in it's infancy, i'm just looking for your input and experience as to whether you feel this sort of system would benefit you chaps that currently run a kiln on wood or gas. Thanks for reading!
  7. Hi all, do you think £80 for a heaped Mitsubishi pick up load of well seasoned mix of hard and softwood delivered locally is a fair price? I only ever sold them in nets before and really think i was working for nothing/very little. Thanks in advance:thumbup1:
  8. Hi all, I need to clear some space in my wood storage area, and I don't have the time or manpower to convert it into firewood sales this winter, so... If there is a firewood merchant out there who wants to stock up, let me know - the wood is free. There's a big pile, I would hazard there is 30 ton but really that's a very rough guess. The vast majority is hardwood, and most of it has been in situ for a year or more. You can access the site with a 7.5tonne lorry, any time of day. Alternatively, if anyone wants just a little slice of the action that's fine too. The area is W11 / NW10, Kensal Green, London.
  9. The Wood Heat Conference has been put together by wood heating companies for the industry, is dedicated to the UK wood heat sector, with opportunities to learn from the experience of others here at home, and hear from international experts from industry and academia on the state-of-the-art in biomass supply chains and installations in Europe. The conference is aimed at fuel supply chain companies, installers and distributors of boilers and ancillary equipment, consulting engineers and other advisors, as well as those considering major investment in wood heat systems. Hosted at the iconic Great North Museum in Newcastle, the 2014 Wood Heat Conference is a must-attend event, with speakers drawn from industry and government here and abroad. Running on 20th and 21st November, the conference has the theme of Raising Our Standard, with speakers covering subjects including : • DECC’s recent review of installer practices and standards; • Wood heating technology ‘over the horizon’ in Europe; • Effective financing for wood heat projects; • Establishing and operating a biomass fuel supply centre; • The Biomass Suppliers’ List; • District heating design; • Emissions from biomass boilers; • Good practice in heat metering; • Alternative sources of biomass for heat. The conference will include speakers from the Government, the Wood Heat Association and the Renewable Energy Association, meaning those attending will have a better grasp than ever of the opportunities available in the wood heat industry. If you would like to know more, please see the attached flyer and programme, or post a question! WHA Conference Flyer.pdf WHA Conference Programme.pdf

  11. I am upgrading my hakki pike 37 and was wondering is there anything better?
  12. Standing timber wanted in Northern Ireland any thing considered. All areas considered.
  13. Hello all, I'm just a lowly wood burning Joe who has recently taken delivery of a large Ash tree, (thanks Erskine Tree Surgeons, Glasgow). Whilst I plan to season and burn the smaller stuff, I cannot bring myself to burn the large Ash Discs I was thinking a table top (can you buy cast iron legs?) or a bench but that's as far as I got. Can you help please? I'm no expert and only have basic tools! (chainsaw, electric planer, chop saw etc.) Thanks, Cris
  14. Hi. I am a local authority ranger and we are looking to hire a firewood processor to run off the pto on our Massey 410 (55 horse) tractor. We want it delivered to us and collected afterwards and would probably need it for a working week. I am posting this to get some prices from anyone local who would be able to offer us a suitable machine for hire. As we are local authority we would have to set you up on our purchase order system (not cash!). Please give me a shout if this sounds like something you can help with. Matt
  15. Hi All, Am after any arb waste or cord wood that is going in or around the Chester area. Obviously if its free then brilliant but am willing to pay the going rate. I'll need enough to keep our house going and that of an elderly neighbour (who I said I'd help this year, yeah more splitting!!). More than happy to take tonnes of the stuff. Have access to big transit van so can transport if easier. Have saw and axe waiting just need wood! Thanks very much everyone and if I've missed anything out feel free to mention it!!
  16. I'm looking for a supplier of preferably hard wood to the north east area (Middlesbrough). Please PM me with prices if anyone is interested. Thanks, Steve
  17. Hi All, THIS IS UNPROCESSED WOOD FRESHLY CUT We are working on a site on the Uxbridge/ Hillingdon borders just off the A40, over the next few days. Theres a fair old whack of various bits of wood that is free to anyone who would like it. It's.. willow, birch, cherry, ash, robinia, hawthorn, laurel and a bit of oak. Some is in 2'-3' sections (man handleable) and other bits in whole tree sections (up to around 20'). We do not have facilities to load, but you could get any sized truck in to pick it up. PM me with any questions.
  18. I have two large(ish) Sycamores coming down in March and at the moment my yard is full of timber and I have nowhere for the timber from these trees. Both trees are in a front garden and close to the road (with a 2.5m tall hedge between them and road), and near Stamford, Lincs.. Anyone interested? I will consider all offers. One tree has a lot of flaking bark at the base and the crown is not too clever (a couple of large snapped limbs in the last couple of years) - so I suspect the timber from that tree wouldn't be up to much for milling/turning but should be useful for firewood but I'm not sure about the other. T1 is ~25m tall, has dbh~1m and bifurcates at ~4m into two ~40-50cm stems T2 is ~18m tall, dbh ~0.7m and bifurcates at ~3m into two stems
  19. Moved to Worcester recently and would like to buy seasoned hardwood by m3. The nearest listing in the directory is 14 to 15 miles away, and the stuff i've seen so far locally is not good, a double cab pick up of wet and green is £60. Can anyone recommend a good source or is it time to start burning briquettes ??

  21. Hi guys, New to the Forum, and although I've searched the threads can't quite find an answer I'm looking for! Wanted some advice on buying my first chainsaw. Not really doing any felling, but more working on the ground. Ringing and logging of max diameter 3 foot trees but alot of the time maybe smaller stuff like 20 inches. Will use it on average 3 days a week. Maybe 12 hours/week. Was thinking a husky 365 but is it more than I need? What would people recommend? What bar length is best? Has anyone got anything they're about to sell? Thanks in advance.
  22. Hello all, I hope posting this doesn't violate the forum's product-promotion rules (I don't think it does)... I have (very roughly) 20m^3 of freshly cut pine in 30cm lengths, thickness 20-60cm (unsplit), which I can make available for roadside collection near Durham (DH2) in January. I don't fancy transporting or finding room to store all this pine - can anyone suggest a suitable method of disposal? I'm looking for a solution which is quick and easy rather than especially profitable. Thanks for any advice you may have, Tom.
  23. I have approx. 1 Acre to clear in wood near Alford Lincs and need a forwarder to retrieve to stack. All Ash and some are substantial. Hire kit or kit & operator, I am open to deals. Drop me a line.or call 07763141756 Will be selling the stacks too
  24. Hi, I currently have 5 acres of woodland containing Douglas Fir and Scots pine. I am looking for a little advice about what to do with it. I recon there are around 350 - 400 trees, between 40-50ft tall and all dead straight. I have the option of logging it and seasoning it for next year and using the dead ones this year, or.. Selling to a saw mill which can make it into boards, utility poles etc Any ideas? Thanks
  25. Hi all I am a hardwood firewood supplier looking for some lorry loads of hardwood , our processor takes up to 14" timber and am preferably looking for some birch, ash or sycamore I am in SN15 area of Wiltshire and looking for prices delivered if possible (less organising for me!) but can arrange collection if only roadside is available. Please message me with any details of price per ton / cord Hope to hear from you guys soon Dan
