Mick, I'm a sceptical that it wouldnt jump straight off again but will try it, if, but hopefully there wont be a next time.. thanks. Currently printing one of these as a chain storage box. Needs to be scaled 125% or so, as its a bit small. https://makerworld.com/models/1665725

Yes it will undo them, hand will hurt before the plastic breaks, no problem unless they are done up stupidly tight - thats a bad idea as most modern, lightwieght professional grade saws, the studs are only threaded into plastic!

Ah well thats currently beyond my skills and I dont have anything else that it would stack with. I was intending to print a load of chain storage boxes that I want to stack, but still looking for a good design. It came from here - if you click customise you can easily alter all of the dimensions Parametric Rugged Container by ExtRuben MakerWorld: Download Free 3D Models MAKERWORLD.COM BASIC GENERATORThis parametric container is ideal for creating suitable cases for various tools and small parts. @Steven P I'm not sure what you mean by stackable? A climber is only going to carry one scrench, if at all. Wedges perhaps, but how? Stacked ones wont fit in the trouser pocket. Small magnets or clips would get them to stick together but then hanging on harness. I've had jobs where I really needed a scrench in the tree, had to come down and then decided to come back the next day, knocking the next job back. A simple scrench and I could have finished it, or not. The job I'm thinking of, the chain had hit the catcher and the drive links all burred, took ages to file them back to a useable state. @Marla brown sorry I have @'d you, this forum does t let me delete it?! If anyone knows how to delete unwanted @'s or quotes, please tell me. @Mark Bolam would you like to buy some 😀 Tbh I dont care to sell them, arrange a postage with evri or whoever and I can drop some in a box. This thread is more to help me, I want some good ideas from the experienced climbers.

Looks like it was a nice oak, apart from the ivy, why did they want it down? Reminds me I was working for an Austrian guy last week, he tells me *all* phone and power cables are underground. They dont have a single telegraph pole, and roadside trees are frequently trimmed by a helicopter saw blade, so there are no trees arching over the roads, like we have here. He likes driving here, more scenic. I forgot to ask him, is there a ground crew to clean up the choppers mess?

I'm intending to print things that will make my job easier. Open to any ideas, if you think of something useful I ca try to print it. A lot of stuff has already been designed, along side plenty of useless tat. First up was a brightly coloured climbing wedge. I've got cheap beech wedges but I'm always loosing them being wood coloured. Climbing scrench. 13mm, 19mm, two hex bit slots for flat and torx. Cord hole for hanging, fuzzy texture for grip. Quite a bit smaller and hopefully less stabby than a metal scrench. I might alter design with some sliding caps over the hex bits as they are still a bit stabby. Theres a hedge trimmer sharpening jig I might print. Requires disassembling the blades however, and mine dont need it yet, hopefully wont for some time. Chainsaw Dremel sharpener by Nasti MakerWorld: Download Free 3D Models MAKERWORLD.COM This attachment for the Dremel helps to maintain the correct angle when sharpening a chainsaw. You wouldnt like to evolve a product to find that everyone prefered the old one, a waste of R&D and significant costs, two competing product lines running. Removing that choice is better for them.

I owned the saw from new and have never used alkylate fuel. You say it does not attack rubber, that is untrue and depends entirely on which grade of rubber. There are many grades of rubber and in this case Husq had used unsuitable rubbish. Nitrile rubber can be fuel resistant, slightly less so with ethanol fuels (but there are still a great many old cars on the road!). Viton rubber is generally considered best for long term use. One problem I believe to be true, there is so much low quality or fake fuel hose being produced that it can get into genuine supply chains. I assume the same is true for seals etc.. It is difficult to buy decent aftermarket fuel hose for a motorbike for example. It is suprising if a manufacturer is having issues on new kit from the factory, but does seem to be the case.

Huskys are known to use poor quality Orings on the carbs accelerator pump. My cs340 was only a couple months old, only a few tanks through her when the carb failed. Motomix and aspen would have rotted the oring just the same.

I've been using Castrol Power1 2T, a motorcycle oil, for the last year or so, from Amazon, sold by Amazon. Its got the correct spec for chainsaws, API TC - ISO-L-EGD - JASO FD Previous bottles have all been red oil, this new bottle is plain undyed oil. What do we think?.is it fake or have they stopped using dye? Castrol POWER1 2T Motorcycle Oil 1L : Amazon.co.uk: Automotive WWW.AMAZON.CO.UK

I can have a look, do you have a photo or two of the DCS2500 hook? I've not yet used one and I am not finding a good pic on google. On the DCS does it have a seperate lanyard ring or does the hook replace that? I'm happy printing stuff just cover the postage.

This is the current version, done by combining a few existing models into one and strengthening a lot. Possibly on the small side but very usable. Gave one to a climber but all his Stuhls appear to be 19mm nuts, so I'll do some of those aswell. 1764436352695.mp4

Can we see photos of the damage? Most of the time it can be cleaned up and perhaps new rings will save it. My engine auger is a good example of that with a lump of the bore missing, runs well enough. Photos in the compression thread somewhere. The Aspen lot are a bit like vegans, no need to ask, they will immediately tell you 😆 Everything will be blamed on E10. Im now convinced that smaller saws, and any other tools are better on battery, especially blowers, much better than a bg86, but not a replacement for the 020T or the G372 yet.

Today I'm at home using the printer. I had an idea for a climbers scrench for adjusting chains. Works well but going to redesign it a bit. Its strong enough but the handle wants to be bigger. Also printing some durable chain storage boxes. Having them loose is becoming a pain.

Had a small job, couple of skinny ash trees. After quoting I realised the larger, that I'd be anchoring on, had a lot of vertical splits in the bark and sign of white hyphae. No limbs low down but the top has buds all over. Possible dieback? None of them looked great but this was the only one with the splits. Please give your opinions, how safe is this to climb? I would have been happy climbing it to the V but not happy going much higher. I considered the tops a bit too large to control or rope on this stem, and with the phone lines, and a low roof, too much risk. Called in an experienced friend and he had it done in a couple hours. From there I felled it and cleaned up the road. Its empty land at the moment so there was no need to log up or take it away.

Knot blocking is very useful - I use it after trad climbing in Wintours leap, it saves carrying two 60m ropes. Knot block on the end and use 5mm cord to pull it down after.

When I used to commute 25 miles on the cbr6, it got to -12c a few years. My hands were blue and painful when I got there. Heated glove inserts changed that, arriving in relative comfort, could have stayed on the bike all day. I was not going slow either. These are what I used, with some tape to keep them in the glove. Heats the back of the fingers and keeps circulation flowing. 503 - Service Unavailable Error WWW.AMAZON.CO.UK Dont know how well they would last in work gloves, and if they get wet, you feel burning tingly shocks. They do make gloves with them built in but none are suited to climbing, some might do ok in leather work gloves for ground work. I did try painting the heater things in rubber paint (tyre security coat, used after puncture repairs) but cant remember if that stopped the shocks.

Using a multimeter on Ohms, with the heater disconnected from the saw, check the resistance of the heater element. If it is zero or infinte, the element is likely blown. Im unsure what specific voltage it runs at but would expect a resistance between 0.5 to 100 Ohm to indicate its good. Multimeter set to voltage (could be DC but probably AC on this) check if there is a voltage output on the wires going to the heater. If that is zero, you can try with a known good power source, of similar like a car battery connected to the heater element to see if it heats up.

They dont do one, only full size die grinders. That would be like using a Stihl 500i for pruning a fruit tree.

For chain sharpening, no problem with files except it gives me sore hands. If the chain has hit something and rolled the chrome, then blunts the file, makes it slow work. I had a cheapy Lidl one, it only managed a few chains before letting the smoke out. This should make it much faster. Couple of leylandii and laurels Reasonable size garden, big pile of old rotting cuttings at the back. Didnt like my price for removing it, he will burn them and the fresh cuttings. One customer had a saggy gate on the driveway. 3d printed this wheel, works nicely, stops it dragging. Also adjusted the 2511 clone. I know it was running rich and bogging down, so a slight turn of the high jet until the revs picked up a bit, much nicer to use.
