  1. I'm using the stihl synth plus as well. It is very thin alright. I allways thought bar oil was supposed to be sticky like anti fling? There's no stickiness whatsoever in synth plus compared to say castrol chain oil. It's basically like thin engine oil. Has anyone tried UNIL lubricants? It's called contact M special chainsaw oil, it came in it from the dealers when I bought a new saw, it seemed a lot stickier than the fancy stihl watery stuff.
  2. I've not had any issues using hp ultra in the 4 mix stihl fs 111, I was running hp super in it before I bought a new chainsaw, the dealer advised I only use ultra in the new saw so I just switched the strimmer to ultra as I didn't want 2 batches of fuel. Will I run into problems with the 4 mix so? Running them both on aspen 4 mixed with hp ultra.
  3. Are you using hp super or hp ultra? There's a stabilizer in super but somehow none in their so called superior hp ultra. Ya they can drink it alright but with the power you get I don't mind..
  4. Why what's wrong with the ergo start system?
  5. I've heard a lot of stihl thrashing online regarding the stihl bg 86. It's a model I was thinking of buying soon, a lot of people saying it's scrap husky better blah blah. Any honest feedback about the bg86?
  6. I use that to store a micro fiber cloth, folded up right it will tuck in there. Handy for keeping the nozzles and saw clean etc..
  7. Did u turn up the oiler past its restricter pin? Good to hear that.. I'm using nearly all my bar oil for a tank of fuel, I'd still have a nice little bit in it.
  8. Anyone running a 28 inch stihl light bar on a 500i? And does it handle it much the same as the 25 inch standard light bar.? John.
  9. Sorry i know I've a habit of saying years! 😅
  10. So in theory the aspen 4 plus ultra should last for at least 2 years or more?
  11. I couldn't agree more with you.. why they left out the stabil is beyond me though.. what I was uneasy about was ultra had no specs whatsoever on the bottle, the hp super had all the spec on that bottle, the 1 litre ones I'm on about here..
  12. Actually I had a big argument with stihl about this too, ultra is fb. It's the super that's fd. They consistently say ultra is the best make up our own minds I guess?? 😄
  13. I haven't a clue, I'm sick of waiting for motomix the dealers here can't get it here, I ordered it before Christmas does anyone know what's up? I'm going with aspen 4 and mixing the ultra with it. Aspen rep says it should be just as good as aspen 2 if I do this. Only reason is I have a full bottle of hp ultra and I'm not throwing it away it cost enough..
  14. No not the case, according to stihl it biodegrades 80% in 21 days IF spilled on the ground, it doesn't biodegrade in the bottle..
  15. From my experience no, the date of manufacture is on the back. Still in year one.
  16. Well I got an answer back from stihl I was wrong. They say the oil is good for 5 years wether opened or not!
  17. OK cheers I should be OK then it's brand new and I've only 3 tanks put through her so far and as i say ive drained it empty. It says it will reach its maximum power after 10 to 15 tanks I thought 3 or 4 would do it..
  18. Why then does aspen claim you can switch between it and pump gas any time with no problems? Surely professional/newer saws would have sturdier components to over come this? I never left mix sit in the saw ever. I drained/ran it dry to store it over the winter. I may well leave it be if this is the case..
  19. Had you any issues with fuel lines or anything when you switched to aspen? I've heard the fuel lines can split when aspen is used after regular pump petrol..
  20. Oh I would its just I never expected it with a use by date! Especially when it's not mixed with petrol..
  21. Does the actual oil itself expire? The actual bottle of stihl hp ultra. I'd say unless exposed to elements and sunlight no? Reading online it says once opened shelf life of 2 years. I'm completely doomed!
  22. Great idea Stubby, do you think it should last a long time like the motomix/aspen2? I can't see why not anyway..
  23. I'm more interested now in going about the alkylate fuel and I think that's the way I'll go because pointless buying it mixed and chucking away a new bottle of hp ultra. Cheers 👍
