  1. Great idea Stubby, do you think it should last a long time like the motomix/aspen2? I can't see why not anyway..
  2. I'm more interested now in going about the alkylate fuel and I think that's the way I'll go because pointless buying it mixed and chucking away a new bottle of hp ultra. Cheers 👍
  3. Yes I agree with you..
  4. OK. I can see now stihl have one as well it's called motoplus4
  5. Aspen 4 is it?
  6. 5 years unopened 2 years after opening. I'm just wondering is there anything else in the motomix other than the alkylate and ultra..
  7. If I bought aspen 4 and mixed my own ultra with it would it be/last the same as motomix?
  8. Regarding jaso fd it's reported that it outperforms jaso fb in all aspects not just smoke and ash. Jaso fb is what's in hp ultra and actually the hp super is lower in ash as well. Why are stihl saying the ultra is better? I've emailed stihl GB and I haven't got an answer. I can see from online research the american hp ultra differs from the european type.Does any one want to throw some light or thoughts on it??
  9. Is it stihl oil your using?
  10. Thanks Dan I appreciate the reply..
  11. Hi Dan thanks for replying, I emailed stihl GB about that very thing and they told me the ultra did NOT have the stabilizers in it. I think the American one does its in a silver bottle. I know it doesn't make a big difference if your running stuff day in day out if your using ultra. I have a mix of super made up since last year and it's still perfect using e95 grade petrol. I'm the same as you all I want is the best for the saw. How long would a batch of ultra mixed with fuel last? I was told stale fuel will damage the engine.. I'd imagine if it smells like nail varnish and the oil had jellified or separated from the petrol then yea.. of course it probably wouldn't even start.
  12. Are they just pushing it because of its biodegradable properties and keeping the greens happy do you think? I think you are right the super is a better oil looking at the specs but semi synthetic I thought?
  13. Hi guys I'm new to the forum and I'm sure it has been discussed many times over. I bought a stihl 500i and I'm thrilled with it. When I was buying the stihl at the store I was told never to use anything other than stihl hp ultra. I've asked numerous other dealers in the country and most of them agree. I'm asking professional users out there is it OK to run the hp super (green colour) in this saw? I've used this oil in my older saw for ages and I think it's great oil plus its got a stabilizer in it so it lasts for ages. I'm not a pro but I cut lots of firewood, and yes there could be months go by where it would doing nothing hence my preference for super. Can you please offer me the best advice on this? Thank you. John.
