  2. I think this might of been better just sent directly to @Crocky as I’d imagine he’d know 😂
  3. Well then. I’ve been running a bark box on this 462 since about December. It’s only 6 months old. I’ve cracked the inside of the exhaust it seems and the guy at the shop reckons I’ll seize it running it with it being cracked. New exhausts the best part of 100 pound and I’d just rather not pay that if I don’t need to… Just looking for a second opinion on what the fella in the shop said. Not doubting him or anything
  4. Quite easily a 4ft butt. Had to letter box it with a 25.
  5. Always thought about one of those Silky saws or whatever they’re called. If in big wood I usually carry an alloy wedge so I can smash it into the cut to open it enough for a plastic wedge and open it more with that. Saves destroying plastic ones.
  6. On some outsiders, punting them into the farmers field. Got this far by 11am. So much faster and easier.
  7. I also run the saw like a hand saw in big timber too when I’m half way through to ream it out so to speak and it does work well.
  8. If in doubt and you can read small windblown stems (they’re the easiest to get stuck on) I find putting in a few cuts quite close together can stop you from getting pinched. It’s probably a rough thing to do, but there’s nothing more annoying than getting stuck

  10. As dumb as it sounds (I’m forestry based) but I’ve struck up conversations with local lower impact forestry squads around my area on Instagram or Facebook and ended up getting work alongside them so there is that approach. Where are you based? Here in Scotland there’s a Whatsapp group for forestry and arborists and there seems to be boys always posting for groundies.
  11. Hey doobin. Do you not think a new pick up after warranty is up will be a massive loss in depreciation? I bought a cheap 2021 new shape D Max (cheap as in 5-7K less than others advertised). It will be out of warranty shortly, and currently on 94K miles. Done 20,000 in it since last August. My first thought was keep it til it’s 5 years old or 125,000 for Isuzu warranty then flog it and buy another but looking at the price of them it’s a big out put just for a motor to get you to work…
  12. Read the original post and that is an absolute scunner. That’d put most companies under losing all of that! I never read much of the thread only the last post from Doug really but how likely is it for an insurance company to even cover all of that after it is stolen? I’ve heard of a lot of people getting done over by them!
  13. Hey mate. Is this on one of those 0 percent finance schemes?
  14. Used engine oil/gear oil. Get about 5-6 months out of a bar before it opens up on the rails. Good going I’d say.
  15. Aye. Getting better, where I’m working just now is 4 seasons in one day. Was mental winds and hail/snow in the morning then blue skies and rain in the late morning.

  17. I have a long shank 461 brushcutter which I bought last year and I’m 6’6 and I’d say it’s a bit overkill
  18. I guess everything is learnable over time. I wouldn’t be buying it to use it solely for my own chains more so other peoples. I think a guy near me charges 4-5 pound per chain on one of these I think.
  19. Earn a decent living I guess. Always on the look out for making more I guess. Next tax year I want to be investing in something worthwhile, had my fair share of buying stupid things (like loads and loads of Huskys)
  20. Not sure why but this forum is very slow for me on my iPhone. Not sure if it’s the 10 or so ads below each page that will be slowing it down. Can’t upload a 20mb video to my page for some reason, uploads at a snails pace when it never used to maybe a few months ago.
  21. Worth mentioning, machine operators at the same company got no fuel money extra, nothing for food and had to pay there own digs or stay in there caravan. In exchange they got a better tonneage rate which I would say is the absolute minimum
  22. Who are you forwarding for? I’ve cut up north and at it’s peak it was day rate, plus 50. Plus dinner (ended up being about 20/30 quid for dinner) as it really takes it out of you working school hours on a saw. Really works up an appetite. It’s different in a machine I’d say though as it’s harder to find saw men willing to go far. It’s mental expensive in some bits up north, and sometimes it’s only really petrol stations (shitty expensive ones at that) that you end up eating out of for your breakfast/lunch. I could easily spend 20 quid at them and still be starving.
  23. Looking at maybe buying one of these in the next few months. After this tax year is done, end of the month. Anyone used one of these? It does all aspects, rakers etc. Markusson Sensomatic | Clark Engineering WWW.CLARK-ENGINEERING.COM Markusson Sensomatic. We seek to provide the highest quality products to our customers that match the unforgiving and... Ideally would like to start sharpening harvester chains/processor chains in my free time/in the garage. Heard people charging 4-5 pound plus VAT per chain.
