  1. Good for them. We don't do cedar shaping anymore because clients always expected a "Christmas tree shape" even after explaining that if you go past the secondary growth it ain't growing back. Management of customer expectations is difficult sometimes 🙄
  2. I think there should be a televised event where the whole of Westminster are chained to the wall, and a starved hoard of squirrels rip their nuts off and store them in a tree....
  3. Could it be immature Greasy Bracket Aurantiporus fissilis.? They tend to grow from wounds.
  4. Sad times mate, we're over Glasgow way, I know you're in Edinburgh, great reputation. Hopefully things pickup soon
  5. Pay someone who knows what they're doing will probably be cheaper in the long run
  6. For sure!
  7. Indeed, it seems like there's a lot more folk out there that will undercut and do the job nest day!
  8. Mik, thanks for the reply. Its mid range jobs that we're geared up for and there seems to be a dip, can't quantify it mathematically, just seems up in Scotland there is a dip in acceptance. We're pretty reasonable on pricing. Seems we're missing out on jobs that a few years back where a dead cert
  9. 2-5 per day, usually convert perhaps 70%. Last few months I feel like we're being undercut by "small companies" or gardeners with saws. Could be wrong, just trying to see what the markets doing elsewhere

Getting plenty of enquiries/quotes, but a low conversion rate compared to years past. Anyone else?

  12. Giz a shout when back home mate, always looking for extra hands
  13. Yeah buddy. You're not the guys we passed pollarding at the side of best Western where you?
  14. Nothing wrong with pollarding, especially if its done at the correct height/age of tree to fit the landscape. Original post was looking to see if I was wrong with the x2 seasonal pruning
  15. Eh?!
  16. Glasgow is posh mate
  17. What do you mean?
  18. 😂 I'm confused as well
  19. Just taken over a regular job for a church re pollarding limes/sycamore. However the minister has stated the last guy to do it was coppicing twice a year, once before spring and the second at the end of the season? Picture attached
  20. Sorry guys, yup I meant clippings
  21. Not sure if this is posted in the correct place but here goes! We are a small tree care company. We have a yard but I'm reluctant to start piling up Leylandii chippings or waste. What does everyone else do with the dreaded conifer?
  22. Hello! Is anyone out there treating their saws with fungicide after tackling diseased trees? If so what product are you using?
  23. Hello We've just got an ST6. Any advice as to where folk are sending their blades for sharpening and costs?
  24. Cheers guys, good advice as ever 💪
  25. Hello all. long time lurker, first time poster. Just starting up in the domestic tree surgery industry having worked in forestry... few questions. We are based in the UK, when does the work start to slow down? Also, appart from online presence, how do you guys promote your business? Thanks
