  1. 1147 790 1700 Genuine Stihl Handle Assy (WRAP Around Type) MS500i | Genuine Stihl Parts WWW.GARDENHIRESPARES.CO.UK 1147 790 1700 Genuine Stihl Handle Assy WRAP Around Type Ms500i Is this the wrong thing? # Scrap that. Why call it a Wrap around when it's not?
  2. There are a fair few tree surgeons on checkatrade in my area. Thing is checkatrade is page 4 on google and then you get asked a load of questions before you can even see who is on it. Also it seems when people want "builders" then checkatrade comes up trumps but it doesn't seem to get many hits with Tree Surgeons/Gardeners/Agricultural. On average a month there are 1100 google searches for "tree surgeon/arborist/tree removal" in my area. Check trade said that the tree surgeons in my area were getting 12 calls a month which for £99 seems like not much when you don't know how many of those 12 became actual jobs. I went on there as a "customer" and it was garbage. Using SEO and the correct methods I'm no.6 on google maps list now in 24 hours since going live. I ended up shutting down (not going bankrupt) my previous company doing aircraft repair as since march the industry is knackered and I got absolutely 0 support from the government. I remember when this outbreak started the guys saying it was like 9/11 all over again and they were wrong. It's a lot worse. I went for some update training recently to get my head around 2 rope working etc etc and the examiner said that he trained three other aircraft engineers in the last 2 weeks. Goes to show what it's like. Most guys had been laid off and of course a lot of them were taking any work they could meaning the price for labour went from £25+ an hour to around £9 an hour in a matter of weeks. Lidl's offer more than that for stacking shelves, why would I work 12 hour shifts signing off work on aircraft that if I got wrong would land me in jail for life for manslaughter? Hence I thought I would go back into my original calling and do tree work seeing as I was pretty much doing it for free most weekends anyway. I just need to get a good supply of work coming in. What company do you use for fliers Jack? Or is it one that only works local to you?
  3. Sounds like someone could make a pretty penny distributing them in the UK....
  4. I'll not you down as a future mark... I mean peat. ??
  5. Maybe when tree work breaks me I will go into selling snake oil and spirit level bubbles
  6. Stihl RED?!?! GREEN DAMMIT. Red means stop, why do you think they don't make it past the warranty?!
  7. Good news! Always good to have feedback and a resolution. Something that most people forget to post!
  8. It was impressive. Cut below a V at the base. One bit in the lake, the other bit ripped the power lines out! Having never seen that before, I was impressed at the flashes, the bangs, the sparks etc. It was like Glastonbury!
  9. I think that's what happened with my local farmer. Some guy turned up with a b&q chainsaw and took the tree down straight across some 11kv powerlines and ripped the transformer off the post. Oh how we laughed ?
  10. Another one for the makita brushless it's specced out to drill up to 76mm with an auger bit in wood. In first gear it has bags of torque and will be a real wrist snapper if you don't brace and use the bar. As others have said get the biggest batteries you can. I find that 2 is enough though unless you're drilling constantly. By the time one is dead the other has charged
  11. Totally agree. I've noticed that with sites. I've tried to steer away from that sort of thing. I've been basing my SEO on good content, reviews, and repeat updates. Trying to work on social media side now. Do you post your fliers by hand or do you do the royal mail door drop thing?
  12. 36" Stihl scabbard at my local dealer £2.34...
  13. You can buy Stihl scabbards in whatever size? 30" 25". What size do you want?
  14. Funny one, I bet if the Tennant said "I want to cut all these trees down for the wood" it would be a solid no from the owner. But now its costing money it's on the Tennant ? typical landlord. It should all be in the tenancy agreement. However, most tenancy agreements also state that the garden/land has to be appropriately maintained by the tennant. If a plant dies or tree becomes dangerous I suppose it's the Tennant's issue as it's a "gardening" responsibility
  15. I'll tell Yell to spin on it then. I thought it was a lot of cash for what it was but not having used companies like that I didn't know what to expect. I think I am better working on the google positioning and the google map (reviewed) results. Having asked people about it, none of them have said that they would look at yell. If I google "Tree Surgeon Exeter" then checkatrade is on page 4 so wasn't worth the £99 a month for that.
  16. That's what I was thinking. I am working on the SEO as the new website etc only went live last week. Tbh, in my mind, I am better off spending £20 on flyers/cards/nice glossy posters.
  17. Do any of you guys advertise with yell? Do you get much work from it? I've been offered advertisement in a load of local areas for £90 a month but it's a 12 month contract, seems like a big commitment?
  18. Maybe I got it the wrong way around? There doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule. Just a tonne of shady rules about what is approved and what isn't! HSE states "suitable petrol containers" so no lunch boxes or empty bottles of white lightning I suppose? ?
  19. I line up the cans in my boot so they can't see and fill them like that. My record so far has been 6, 20lt steel cans but that was diesel. Along with a full tank it was an expensive trip. They get really funny about it now. You can only have petrol in 10L metal or 20L plastic. You can only store 30L of fuel at home. How are you meant to run 2 ride on mowers, a dumper, a polaris and all the other tools off 30L?!
  20. Winner, rang AUS and It was almost £100 cheaper ?
  21. I'll go to them now and see what they give me!
  22. Decided to buy a set of poles as I have the short pole silky for in-tree work and having the ability to put ropes up trees and fit loppers to it etc is too much to turn down. Cheapest I have found so far is Buxtons (£562 for pro-plus kit with 6 poles, bag, silky blade, lopper head and hook) anyone have any leads on anywhere cheaper? Going to regret it if I run in gun-ho and find it's cheaper elsewhere!
  23. Yea, agreed. If I wanted something softer I would have gone for one of those fancy DMM hooks but I can't bring myself to spend £100 on something that's not life support ? I'll only be using it on takedowns or branches that are coming off. There's a part of me that wants to put it on the landy winch and test it but the other part of me knows it's going to join me in the cab at about 100,000Mph ?
  24. @Khriss my Chinese delight arrived. Actually surprisingly good. Locks open and closed. I'm going to have to attack it with a file though because it's furiously sharp ?
