  1. And I bet his Mum couldn't have been more proud of him! If you'd taken over she'd have been fleetingly grateful to you. Few weeks back we were processing logs, boss said expect a visit from the woman living in the cottage near where we were working. She has foster children with learning difficulties and he wanted me to organise a load of the scrappy stuff to give her. We'd made a start throwing stuff off the ground into a trailer when she arrived with 3 shy, awkward young girls. She insisted they should do something so I kitted them out with ear defenders and gloves and they had great fun loading the trailer themselves. I tipped it at the cottage and they all got stuck in to stack them in a garage, no longer shy they were laughing and telling me stories about their dogs, one even teased me about looking like the miniature schnauzer! They got a lot more benefit from that trailer of wood than if the lads had done it for them.
  2. I think Marcus has a good point, I've known several that ended their own life and none were apparently predictable by friends or family. In my own experience there have been times when I've not been great mentally, and at what felt to me like the bleakest moments people close to me were of the opinion that I was doing better. In general I've always been quite good at being open with loved ones about things but at the worst times it was easier to smile and say "not bad thanks" than engage in the effort of sharing the reality of how I felt. There is a huge gulf between how you feel and how you appear to others.
  3. I propose the Downing Street lecturn for PM. Strong and stable, has a proven track record of delivery in its role at No.10, outlasted a number of previous PM's...
  4. A tiny minority from a single political party voted for her. The sacking/not sacking thing... she's not making the decisions now, but is doing whatever she's told to do in the hope of staying PM a little bit longer.
  5. Sorry, I did shout "the edge is wet!" but I think the manitou was too noisy to hear.
  6. Thought you may be able to offer the OP some advice...
  7. @Terrain Aeration does this work.
  8. I believe getting planning permission for stonehenge was a lengthy process
  9. That was his best so far, helped me enormously. Didn't realise my blower had such a problem (it always starts on 3 pulls, not the perfect 13). Just dropped it off at the dealer to get that sorted.
  10. Liked him in Cracker the most, with the Panhandle woman as his sidekick.
  11. Calling the video Topiary Timelapse is a bit misleading too I thought. No doubt it won't be long before someone with a pair of secateurs and wearing no trousers undercuts your price.
  12. I reckon whatever she does at this stage she's already doomed. Pepperpot Penny would be a more attractive proposition, but I don't know about her leadership capabilities!
  13. Kwasi Kwarteng: I'm not going anywhere, says chancellor WWW.BBC.CO.UK Asked whether he could U-turn on parts of his mini-budget, Kwasi Kwarteng says "our position hasn't... 17hrs later... Yes I'm going now, says chancellor.
  14. She's called a press conference for 2pm today so it doesn't look good for him. Not looking great for Truss either as it's being reported the Tory MP's are rumbling about giving Penny a go instead.
  15. To be fair Mark, it was quite useful. It helped Dirk understand why people kept advising him to make an application and explain to his neighbours about there being an established process to follow.
  16. If you'd submitted an application on the day you started this thread, your 5week wait would be done in two days time.
  17. Sorry, just a joke. Struck me as something trigger Andy would say
  18. I think it's the petzl vertex helmet branded by husqvarna that I had.
  19. I've worn a few helmets and for me the protos is by far the best. Comfortable and cool (as in not hot rather than fashionable!) and great having the muffs out the way when not in use. That said, before I got a protos I'd of said the same about the Husky petzl one. You'll not be wearing it all day every day John so no need to be extravagant.
  20. I'd really recommend a Protos but if you don't want to spend that much my previous one was a Husqvarna Petzl arborist helmet and it was good, comfortable.
  21. Weaponised lentils. They must be vegan activists.
  22. Haha, I noticed you recognised the wording, almost like you'd heard it all before!
