  1. Impact events would be dramatic to see too, like Chicxulub or Tunguska. Would certainly put a New Year's Eve firework display in its place.
  2. Yes you'd be completely safe, whatever you do and wherever you go you'll only witness it, then return safely when your meal is on the table and the stove is banked up. Otherwise I'd likely be the 14001 Scotsman to die at Flodden!
  3. There are many events and periods in history I'd love to go back and witness. Building the great pyramids, the fire of London, the lawless Border Riever times, or the Battle of Flodden in 1513, when on Branxton Moor in Northumberland the largest battle between England and Scotland took place. Over 65000 men engaged and an estimated 18000 men lost their lives in a single day. The English prevailed. There'd be countless events worth witnessing. I'd also love to see my local area during geologically defining times. For instance The Silurian Period when the notable Eildon Hills which I live in the shadow of (as the Celts and Romans among others have before me) were formed by volcanic activity on the bed of a warm, shallow sea. Or the retreat of the last ice age when the landscape as we know it now was created. To pick one thing for me though, I think it'd be the time when wolves and humans began to collaborate leading to our current relationship with dogs. If you could travel back in time, where or when would you most like to go back to visit?
  4. Seems it beeps after a period of approximately 3days of being away from its owner.
  5. I don't know about airtags either eggs but sounds a bit dodgy doesn't it. This lifted from the link below suggests that message is a warning from Apple? How to know you are being tracked by an AirTag Apple issues alerts to let someone know that there’s an AirTag near them that isn’t associated with their iCloud account. These alerts happen after some period of time or while you’re moving and the AirTag is moving with you. Should an unknown AirTag be tracking you you will see an alert that will state: “AirTag Found Moving With You”. Apple will invite you to open the Find My app on your iPhone to go through various options to disable the tracking and locate the AirTag, discussed below. (Incidentally you may also see an alert for other devices moving with you, such as AirPods and other Bluetooth trackers). Copied from here... https://www.macworld.com/article/345863/how-to-find-block-disable-airtag-moving-with-you.html
  6. Scotland is totally free, we get those lovely folk south of the border to pay for it all
  7. Apparently he's incommunicado
  8. Apparently my postie has decided to strike because I went to the door completely naked, seems she was surprised I knew where she lived.
  9. Easy mate, just stop pressing "submit reply". Glad to help.
  10. Always associate this time of year with Betty's recovery a few years ago. Hope all the dogs and dog people of this thread have a good Christmas, all the best to everyone, especially Charlie @David Cropper and Betty @gary112
  11. You're a gentleman on 2 wheels Marcus! Certainly the majority of cyclists through our works think the appropriate way is nip past red, into the work lane, shoogle past the chipper and under the mewp whilst pretending not to have noticed any of it! Seasons greetings to you...
  12. The way that job went for me, it's likely if I tried it I'd just get abused for the one handing element!
  13. Conversely last night when I took the dogs out was ankle deep in rain running down the road, more singin' in the rain than swan lake! Enjoy it...
  14. Looks fantastic J, very jealous as our winter wonderland has disappeared, it's 8c and intermittent rain.
  15. Only from below, I'm silver
  16. Yes, you're enviably astute. I've most definitely made an utter fool of myself by not believing the kimosabi that speaks with forked tongue
  17. I'm keeping up with your windbaggery just fine thanks, all the best.
  18. I thought you did, you can't afford a decent pension/holiday time was what you mentioned, and if your not putting up prices in order to try and keep working when your costs are going up several fold then it's doubtful you're creaming it in.
  19. Working for what though? You'll have first pick of all the shitty little jobs but earn sod all for doing them. It's all very well working cheap to be busy but it's not really sustainable when your costs keep increasing.
  20. Sounds like the race to the bottom business model
  21. But not bitter about it at all. Andy beat me to it.
  22. I was thinking the money could be found by not giving billions of it away to the likes of the Mone woman, Hancock's landlord etc. for no other reason than they know someone in gov.
  23. I'm not sure you get the idea at all. From what I've heard on the matter from friends and family that have and still do serve this country then good working conditions for the military isn't about persuading the enemy during a war or battle not to engage in violent conflict. It's more about them getting a decent level of training, not having to buy their own personal equipment in order to have stuff that's fit for purpose, or providing their families with a decent home to live in while they're serving the country.
  24. Don't judge a book by its cover as they say. The guy had over 70yrs practice to build up to it.
