  1. I think it's the realisation of the theory that modern western society creates an environment where each generation becomes more stupid and incapable. People that are capable and able to afford to raise children well tend to make conscious decisions to wait until they're settled in a stable relationship, with a stable home and career before having one or two children which they then parent well. The other end of the spectrum is the feckless people that have little ability to look after themselves let alone children, who mindlessly birth one after another safe in the knowledge that society is there to absolve them of their decisions. I've spoken to people who don't seem to live in reality at all. Brand new house, air source heating, two cars and a motorbike with 5 young kids. I said I didn't know how he could afford it having one minimum wage income for seven people and the answer was kids are really cheap to have! Flip side of course, the kids great granny mostly looks after half of them because the twenty something girlfriend that's never had a job can't cope. Quelle surprise.
  2. I'm no pinky agitator, simply a canine advocate, you chaps aren't getting the pooches message!
  3. "we give it all, we're your best friends, we take you up the hill in the dark, in shite weather we're there by your side, we keep you company all day while you arse about, we give you unconditional love every minute of the day, and all we're worth is half a roadkill each? We need a union rep"

  5. Morning all. Got the two Vizsla girls to pick up at lunchtime for a sleepover, need to increase my weekend step count significantly to keep them happy. The hills are calling and I'm looking forward to it. Have a good one folks.
  6. You're not far off with the cost. We (with another team subbed in for it) do it annually and have done for several years now. The hedge was established and well kept before the houses were built so it's not too bad really, just a few bare areas. It used to be the perimeter of the head office of a whisky manufacturer so always been trimmed annually.
  7. Morning all. Glad to see Friday, been on the biggest connie hedge trim I've seen this week. All round a housing estate, four days with 9/10 people and yesterday was hot and wet with too much hedgewalking, miserable. Still, got it finished yesterday so finish the week on tree work and there's no rain forecast! Have a good one folks. Edit. I won't be climbing today though having lost half my kit to the loler guy this week, Gustharts have done well out of it at least!

  18. My turn to be jealous! I gave up trying to witness celestial shows, it's great when you see something by chance but it seems whenever there's an event the Borders is cloudy!
  19. Morning all. Gusty wind and rain battering off the windows here, warm though. Day off today so.at least I'll be avoiding it. Have a good one folks.
  20. Someone said earlier it reminds them of "that awkward moment, after weeks in their bedroom practicing, your teenage daughter proudly shows you what she's choreographed and you wonder if she's having a fit and when the dancing actually starts". For me the funnier bit was an interview later where the Australian team defended her by sending out the Chef de Mission to say she deserves credit for having a go.
  21. Dearly beloved, as we gather here today, some more wearily than others, the sense resides within me that the good Lord, our Father in Heaven, would wish us to show understanding to our fellow man. Indeed, when we consider Ephesians 4:32, it would seem incumbent upon us to make allowance for the vagaries of our fellow travellers through life's difficulties. It is most appropriate, on the day that our Lord gave us his creation, we should lift his sentiment high above our heads and show others by example, the good and righteous path. Amen. Donations will be received in the vestry following the service, and I trust I'll see you all on Wednesday afternoon for the charity spelling bee marathon.
  22. Sounds lovely peds, enjoy your time with them.

  24. Feeling a bit of pressure this morning. Have the sense it's got to be a decent result to keep morale up, but then Navvy opens with a two! Pre wordle nerves are building.
