  1. I think you / we are all lucky it doesnt scream like the 560, it revs plenty from my experience with the nutter who started one for me in the Stihl shop yesterday, it is difficult to cut hardwood with a saw that revs too high, it makes it want to hop, better off with a normal speed and good torque.
  2. Did the 372 not change to plastic cages, was there not bearing issues, the first ones had steel.
  3. Have you got a 400 yourself, yes early days regarding these newer models.
  4. Yes, I know, thats why I compated them in my summation.
  5. Thats what I mean, the newer stuff is lighter, the MS400 in my hand felt way lighter than the 365, I had to ask myself how was I happy with the 372 I had if it felt like this. Different erra saws.
  6. I agree with paragraph 3, not so sure if you mean they will be legislated out of existance, or whether the new tech will be a viable alternative or one thats forced on us.
  7. Remember the milk floats, a guy close to me used to buy them and plumb them into his workshop, 50p worth of diesel charged them for a week.
  8. How about an acid we paint around the tree in a ring, activate it with a dot of hell on earth, then run, 60 seconds later down comes the tree.
  9. I can see your working on the problem, be sure to give credit to all who inspired you when you come up with the next gen tree saw, woodpecker and beaver are my tm 's, get your own.
  10. Glad to hear you have no issues with the 365 vibes. I held one today, all I will say is times change, things are a lot lighter now, whether thats a good thing or not remains to be seen.
  11. I would if I could handle the weight and power, but the handling is not the same as the 400, which I liked.
  12. Hi, I hope you dont mind my messenging, I would like a number for

    a decent dealer, thanks.

  13. You sure are right there, I fondeled one today while I was in the Sthil shop, and the 365, I could not find any reason to buy the 365 given its weight in comparison to the 462, or the 500i, was ther to buy me an MS400, but that ended in disaster.
  14. Well I would love to tell you all how I find the Stihl MS400. But all I can tell you is, today I went to the dealers to give the one they had in stock an eye over, which after waiting a half an hour a member of staff brough it out to me. Nice saw without a doubt, I asked him to pull the cover so I could see all was well, nothing hanging off, so onto next step, I said I would take it, and asked him to fire it up. Saw dissapeared out into the workshop, he started it and revved the absolute crap out of it. I walked over the man behind the counter in the showroom where I was, waiting, I asked him had they got another MS400, he said he would look, and off he went. Next up the guy that revved the saw flat out of came in, plopped the saw on the counter and said there you go, I said not a hope, you started a cold new saw and revved the sh** out of it, he said, I was clearing out the carburettor, I said, no engine should be revved flat out when its cold and especially when its new, he said it would stop if he didnt rev it, I said am standing here a half an hour and just witnessed the previous customer buying a saw, and heard it warm up for for over a minute, and after that it only recieved a few medium revs, and Two at full throttle. Second time they did this to me in the process of buying a new saw, this time I walked out without the saw. No way was I paying for a quite expensive new saw, and then be on the defending side of the you used the wrong fuel, or not enough oil in it saga. Bloody ridicilios that they couldnt start a saw let it warm and then rev it, so much for trying to support the local dealer.
  15. I have no problem with plastic skinned, or bodied saws, same with my pvc windows, they all last. Carbon fibre bicycles also last, as long as aluminium, or longer, aluminium has problems when its bent, stressed or vibrated, anodes are also required to keep it from melting away in other situations, many aluminium saw cases suffer the same. Your looking at problems, there are many solutions that work for the majority of people. Certain people cant be given tools, they probably broke all their toys too.
  16. Look up Glock pistol material, it wont be breaking, or cracking. How many pro saws with plastic have you seen breaking under normal loads, Ive seen trees try to break them and they just bounce back, there is no company that wants to stay in business going to make a product out of cheap plastic, lots of research goes into this.
  17. I have read where a guy talked with a Makita rep last year, and it was mentioned they were developing 70 / 90 cc class battery powered chainsaw. Is this why they are dropping the gas/petrol ones, I sure hope so, They still have time to surprise us before the old petrol versions are halted. I have no idea why you think plastic is plastic and it just breaks, it will not break as easy as Magnesium or Aluminium, it can be as high tech as needs to be, you could run over it and it would still not break, and its way touger than the humanoid using the plastic saw. And as for a 2.5kg 13 hp motor, seems like we are well on our way power wise, all we need is the battery, which can be carried on a belt or a back pack, making way for the saw to be lighter.
  18. Its like evreything else, unless otherwise legislated it will be a gradual change over to the new technology, at the end of the day as long as we get paid for our work, we can go out and get what is available when the need comes. It would be a pleasant surprise if Makita / Dolmar did have a battery option that was a game changer.
  19. Not happy your shed burned down, but not surprised you dislike the idea of batteries. But, people had / have the same problems with deep cycle the battery banks, some even got killed, but that was their own fault, 400 or 800 amps can do that to you even with 48 volts, I would have battery storage with solar and wind in the morning, if it was financially viable, but every time I do the maths, count the cost of the batteries, the cabling, the charge controller charger inverter and a percentge for a standby generator and some fuel for it, it simply is cheaper to remain connected to the grid, if this position could be changed and it was even the same cost as current grid provided electric, then people would see it very differently.
  20. @shavey, I found this beauty if you speak the language. Solo by AL-KO 665 + VYHRAJ PEUGEOT 208 WWW.TPD.SK Výkon: 4.828 HP • Objem: 65.9 cm³ • Dĺžka lišty: 40 cm &bull
  21. A little more power than I need, and 230.00 more expensive than the new MS400, which is still more powerfull than the 365.
  22. I like the new 550 too, it really looks like all the teething troubles with the older model has resulted in a very nice mk2. They are cheaper too than the Stihl 261 v2 when you take into account the 550 comes with the narrow kerf setup, you would have to spend more to add this after buying the Stihl, which a lot of people did to get the most from the 50cc 's.
  23. Thanks for posting @htb , too bad yours let go the smoke.
