  1. I was on a tiny little island off Nicaragua a while back, the smaller of the two Corn Islands. I was given two lobster tails by a fisherman, I needed some coconuts to cook them with. Another fella shimmied up a tree and hacked one down. Cooked the flesh of both lobster and coconut with chilli, herbs, and lime. Made grog with rum and the coconut water. It rained. Edit: on this beach right here, Cocal Beach, Little Corn Island. I resolved there and then that I was going to get a machete when I found the right one, but the only ones I found for sale were thin, floppy, flimsy, things. I decided that you'd probably have to make one. That was in 2009. I still don't have my machete. What could you make a decent machete from, I wonder?
  2. You can’t argue with results.
  3. Who do you think would make a worse president, Trump or Biden? Try not to mention Trump in your answer.
  4. I was chatting to the client just now, his plumber thinks it's a tank and ballcock issue, so looks like I'm in the clear. I called an electrician friend of mine last night too to outline the problem, he also thinks it would only really be me and the splitter if the house wiring was dodgy as. Thanks for the chatter everyone, I had assumed I was blameless but I thought I'd get some fresh opinions on it.
  5. For future reference, the correct PPE for chainsaw use isn't a motorcycle helmet, it's motorcycle leathers. Other than that, well done 👏
  6. Skillsaw makes quick work of pallets too, and is arguably more useful... depending on what else you like to cut.

    Jokes???

  8. Yeah absolutely, hungry enough. But not the sort of thing that can mess around with an entirely different circuit, which the power showers are on, having gone through two different switches on the fuse board? Could it cause some kind of surge that could damage them? I'm no sparky, granted, but I didn't think houses were wired that way...
  9. Interesting. I was splitting for a client earlier, and they seemed to start having problems with their electric showers... but I don't see how that could have anything to do with an extra 3kw from me. It's just like a kettle or an oven, hungry enough but nothing silly. No switches tripped or fuses blown... can't have been me, could it?
  10. Old thread bump. Anyone ever had issues using a 3kw splitter on a domestic circuit? Cheers Edit: lol, look at this dopey little bell-end down there... ↘️
  11. There's a hell of a lot of evidence for this already in your post history, but if you think there's a greater chance for either of those things with Trump at the helm than Biden - and let me be clear, I am under no illusions that Biden is perfect, but sometimes you really do have to choose the lesser of two weevils - then you really have got absolutely no idea about what's going on, and it reflects terribly on you as a person. There is no hope for you.
  12. Well it's about bloody time, and a real shame that he'll still never see the inside of a prison cell.
  13. Yeah, he's just got no proof! He's a LIAR!
  14. He used to be an "anti-capitalist" but moved over to "COVID skepticism", presumably because it's a more lucrative and gullible audience. But also perhaps he knew that the sex abuse allegations were going to come out, and suspected that the anti vaccine and COVID conspiracy types would still support him. "These allegations are lies that are being used to bring him down for speaking the truth!" He wouldn't be the first con man to try to rehabilitate his image by finding Jesus. Jokes???

  16. Well the faggot thing (I believe, though I am happy to be corrected if I've been fed a lie) came about from the practice in a less-enlightened time of burning homosexuals at the stake, atop, obviously, a big pile of burning faggots. The gleeful crowd would shout things like "Throw another faggot on the fire!" and other such comments, and the name stuck. I wonder if the Italian is a translation of a bundle of sticks or the gay slur. But I don't wonder enough to Google it. Edit Do you know what, I just Googled it, and it turns out the burning thing is one of those urban legends. Fascinating, I wonder who started that.
  17. To engage in the usual homophobia in a variety of languages? It just translates to faggot or faggotry as far as I can tell. Maybe I'm missing why it's such a great insult. Or maybe... I'm just not homophobic enough.
  18. At that price point, do you know what kind of distance or definition you would be looking at? Have you compared a 300 quid device to a 1300 one? Like I say, we'd like another one, but if multiple cheaper units would work better for us than a single pricey one, I'd lean that way. It's got things like WiFi connectivity and camera too, which is useful, but not essential. I'll go squirrel spotting the next time we are playing with our device 👍
  19. We have one on the mountain rescue team. Amazing bit of kit. Monocular, not scope, obviously. Don't know how cheap it is relatively, but it was about 1400 euro. Don't know how good it would be on squirrel sized targets at any great range, but it can spot sheep and people through fog and light foliage fairly well. Edit to add some numbers: people/sheep sized targets through swirling cloud at 800m easily, I'd never played with this sort of kit before and I was blown away by it. There was the same kind of device with a laser range finder for another 400e, and HD lens for another grand, so I guess ours is relatively cheap. If you find one cheaper, I'd love to hear about it because we'd like one for our other van too.
  20. Did that on my cs31. Very charitable of the guy to pass me, really.
  21. I'd relegate it clothesline duties personally.
  22. You've lost me again.
  23. There is nothing even remotely controversial or conspiratorial about what he has written.
