  4. Big J you seem a very capable person with a huge backbone and have great respect for you ? hope you and all your crew along with all the hard working guys and girls in this industry come out with their shirts on. Just on a comment you posted about on my position. When my lad (TOM) was given his assessment at 3 years he old diagnosed on the autistic spectrum. Me and his mum went through heart break coming to terms with it. Fast forward 12 years on and he is in a special needs school and doing very well but what i did because i new he was never going to be able to live a normal day to day life as we do. I changed my whole way of thinking and set about putting a father and son future partnership together. I invested in some land which i have planning on for a single dwelling (bungalow) Have a fully rigged out joinery shop with a workable yard, an excavator customized for logging.Sold my last sawmill 2 weeks ago to one of the lads off here (JOSH PURTON) In the next few months i will let the mist clear and see which setup i move onto next. (work in progress) My lad has done 20 hours with me this week learning and watching the MASTER at work and there is no place on earth i would rather be than with my tommy tucker ? I will be looking in 18 months at starting the self build but my point being all the timber will be milled by me and tom which i estimate will be around a £1000 in lumber unless i stock pile my own between now and then. Dai my partner in the mill has just spent 15 k on a 5 bedroom timber fame materials only. Knows f all about wood which is why i call him money bags dai ?

  8. Guidance Claim a grant through the coronavirus (COVID-19) Self-employment Income Support Scheme Use this scheme if you're self-employed or a member of a partnership and have lost income due to coronavirus. Published 26 March 2020 From: HM Revenue & Customs Contents Who can apply How much you’ll get How to apply After you’ve applied Other help you can get This scheme will allow you to claim a taxable grant worth 80% of your trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months. This may be extended if needed. Who can apply You can apply if you’re a self-employed individual or a member of a partnership and you: have submitted your Income Tax Self Assessment tax return for the tax year 2018-19 traded in the tax year 2019-20 are trading when you apply, or would be except for COVID-19 intend to continue to trade in the tax year 2020-21 have lost trading/partnership trading profits due to COVID-19 Your self-employed trading profits must also be less than £50,000 and more than half of your income come from self-employment. This is determined by at least one of the following conditions being true: having trading profits/partnership trading profits in 2018-19 of less than £50,000 and these profits constitute more than half of your total taxable income having average trading profits in 2016-17, 2017-18, and 2018-19 of less than £50,000 and these profits constitute more than half of your average taxable income in the same period If you started trading between 2016-19, HMRC will only use those years for which you filed a Self-Assessment tax return. If you have not submitted your Income Tax Self-Assessment tax return for the tax year 2018-19, you must do this by 23 April 2020. HMRC will use data on 2018-19 returns already submitted to identify those eligible and will risk assess any late returns filed before the 23 April 2020 deadline in the usual way. How much you’ll get You’ll get a taxable grant which will be 80% of the average profits from the tax years (where applicable): 2016 to 2017 2017 to 2018 2018 to 2019 To work out the average HMRC will add together the total trading profit for the 3 tax years (where applicable) then divide by 3 (where applicable), and use this to calculate a monthly amount. It will be up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for 3 months. We’ll pay the grant directly into your bank account, in one instalment. How to apply You cannot apply for this scheme yet. HMRC will contact you if you are eligible for the scheme and invite you to apply online. Individuals do not need to contact HMRC now and doing so will only delay the urgent work being undertaken to introduce the scheme. You will access this scheme only through GOV.UK. If someone texts, calls or emails claiming to be from HMRC, saying that you can claim financial help or are owed a tax refund, and asks you to click on a link or to give information such as your name, credit card or bank details, it is a scam. After you’ve applied Once HMRC has received your claim and you are eligible for the grant, we will contact you to tell you how much you will get and the payment details. If you claim tax credits you’ll need to include the grant in your claim as income. Other help you can get The government is also providing the following additional help for the self-employed: deferral of Self Assessment income tax payments due in July 2020 and VAT payments due from 20 March 2020 until 30 June 2020 grants for businesses that pay little or no business rates increased amounts of Universal Credit Business Interruption Loan Scheme If you’re a director of your own company and paid through PAYE you may be able to get support using the Job Retention Scheme.
  9. Just having a read up on it but makes sense
  10. Andy we get on great but a lot of guys do mention you do spout shite, posts like this i have to agree,Not looking for an argument but with the greatest respect only by your own words you have never been self employed so in my book one should not comment on a thread on the subject. As for equal NI we as self employed people do not enjoy the benefits of paye so do not go there please ?
  11. I would say its gross earnings as that is your annual turn over not your net profit because that is just running cost claimed against running a business, This is the way i see it and i will do it as i would on a balance sheet and post next 10 minutes
  12. Interesting but he did say about NI being brought in line with paye so i saw that as his way of clawing back the money, If its gross then most will be quids in ?? just short term cash flow issues
  13. Will make a massive difference,Just come in from my workshop for bowl of stew and crack a tin open and will have a good look into the details

  24. Ok this was posted on a tech forum i moderate on a couple of days ago I was in Booker's cash and carry today which is trade only. There were no eggs, bread, nappies, hand sanitizer, milk etc because they had all been bought by non English speaking convenience store shopkeepers. The warehouse opened at 6.am but the shopkeepers were queuing at 5.15 am to buy all of those. A carton of six eggs trade price is 65p with £1.00 marked on the box, which gives a profit of 35p per carton. The shopkeepers were selling the eggs for £4.50 per carton which is a profit of £3.85 All the other products were similarly marked up with hand sanitizer at £9.00!! One of the corner shops customers called the councils trading standards to complain about profiteering. An officer went to speak to one of the shopkeepers who said Boo So i replied to the member and a good tip for the lads (Saul) I got 6 chickens which cost me £8 each to buy so 6 eggs and i am in profit by £1, Fook better get another dozen chooks laying ? 18 eggs a day is £27 x 7 days = £189 a week
