  2. Agree its meant to be cooked
  3. Why are you so keen on a 12" bar in my opinion its too short for coppicing,i prefer 15"
  4. Nobody,s trying to deny you of anything, you asked for advice, you,ve been given advice, but sounds like it,s wasted advice
  5. I would think something like that would be an ideal coppicing saw,i use my Makita or my Husky 550xp i find it perfect for the job, anything smaller than these are not pro saws anyway
  6. Mines on a 15",if its going to be obsolete soon you may aswell just buy a new Stihl ms180(although you say you dont like Stihl)for 150 quid(ex vat)
  7. Have a look at Makita/Dolmar i recently bought a Makita 4300 for hedging and so far very impressed wit it.Have a word with Shavey on here he did me a great deal on mine
  8. There seem to be a lot about here this year Stubby, most shoots round here have stopped shooting em,the hedge i,m working on now has a bit off rough grassy ground on the side of the wood and Betty shifted a couple out of there two mornings running last week, great to see them
  9. I,ve had a few like that over the years, the last one like that,i basically ended up making a whole new hedge line by laying the suckers,it turned out ok in the end but as you say i was down to 10/12 mtrs a day

  14. Yes lux,i planted it about 6/7yrs ago for this customer with the intention of laying it,theres about another 1000mtrs to do for him over the next couple yrs
  15. -4 this morning, had a thaw yesterday and was a real mess under foot again but nice and crisp and clean again today
  16. This is the next one,350mtrs,be a treat after this big one
  17. You,re right a lot harder to make money, but as you say something very satisfying about it and you feel like you,ve really achieved something at the end of each day,and if we don,t lay these big ones they will go beyond it and end up with nothing. How are you getting on with yours this season?
  18. Thanks i,ll put another pic up when its finished
  19. got a bigger one on the go at the minute, some of the pleachers are well over 20ft long

  21. Betty helping out (or not)with a bit of hedging
  22. Its so good to see them working David,to see man and animal working together,my grandad used to work horses on local farms and then do a bit of logging in the winter months with them, they were his life he thought the world of them
