  1. Yup, not quite thousands every day but I'd reckon 50 people on the train for the morning commute - in the carriage I sit in, and the same home again. And the same the next day. How many people do you come into close contact with in your vanity van commute? However apart from injecting bleach, Trump doesn't do a lot with Covid these days and his thoughts were well covered in the Covid thread. But on topic news, I see that Disney are releasing a live action Snow White film
  2. without being there and knowing all the background and full kit list... is that big blue jobby on the right of the video big enough and powerful enough? (all good from an armchair of course)
  3. what New Mexico?
  4. Editing. Editing is a godd thing: Considering you have been on about it for the last few posts -today- I am guessing that today is the day you should start to get a tad concerned. What your daily rant today has to do with this thread (POTUS, not he Labour party, there is a thread for that, not your vanity van, there is a thread for that) that is yet to be explained. Back on topic, any thoughts and insights as to what Trump is doing? The biggies are his "Only kidding" statement (where he is now saying effectively "You know what I said before, I was joking"), such as stopping the Ukraine war in 24 hours, or the war in Gaza. Perhaps you have some views on his desire to take Canada or Greenland (but not Mexico weirdly). Perhaps is immigration, Musk, his economic skills.. you choose, but on topic?
  5. 'Morning devils advocate here.... you are of course forgetting the local traffic officer, council man who wants the road opened ASAP for evening rush hour. External pressures as well. Young climber (I did read that bit right?) might not have the conviction to tell the council boss man to feck off when a single cut shortens the length of the job and Mr Miggings can get home for dinner instead of waiting in traffic. (Something I stress to The Boys, remember who it is going to be in the hospital - usually when they want to argue with cars on their bikes)
  6. To be fair, some here who lean politically to the right are able to hold a discussion... though this is often up to the point where Trump gets criticised... but discussing around a subject kind of works. There are some who are unable to hold any discussion. I'd concur though that the right leaning commenters here tend to fire out the insults and those with the left leaning thoughts kind of let them wash over their heads rarely trading insult for insult... but that is to be expected when their 'hero' is doing exactly the same thing just on a grander scale.
  7. Always used Stihl Synth Plus cause that's what my local shop sells, does OK.
  8. Couple of things in this afternoons posts on this - cameras... if you are being recorded it is because you are showboating, wanting to show off. All good, perhaps on a tripod or with a spare groundy who would only be sat in the van otherwise. Still need those looking out for each other to be concentrating and not whether the lighting is good. Working at height... Yup. HSEs first question will often be "Did you need to work at height" - not just arb industry, but if you can do it from ground level then that it best. However he never went up the tree expecting to end the day in hospital, mistake was made, but how do we learn from watching the videos? All good to say "I wouldn't do that" but.... he isn't the first, won't be the last, just he was in video. Is it worth showing the video to your climbers every 6 months as a subtle reminder? I've had no end of similar videos shown at me, different work sites, and they do make you think for a while. Some make a lasting memory....
  9. Didn't look at the link yet, was it the UK has 53% of our food supplies, the rest come from overseas?
  10. For Heathrow it is something I've often wondered why we put all our major air routes through just one airport. Any issue with it, like today, and as above, nothing is moving. Disperse the flights - connect up Heathrow to Gatwick with a decent train line (cheaper and easier than a new runway at Heathrow), if you want do the triangle with London City or even onto Stanstead. Do European flights from Gatwick, Americas from Heathrow, UK Internal to City - plenty of capacity in that. Regional hubs in the North, North West, Wales and Scotland rather than centred in London... so take out 1 Airport you are not stopping all flights (though the green part of me says bung in more fibre cables, only need half the number of business flights a day, far cheaper)
  11. Oh dear, here is another child predator Republican... who was pushing to protect girls (though by inference I assume all children) from 'Trans People' (but not protecting them from himself). The longer Trump is in charge the more obvious that it becomes he sees no issue with grown, rich men raping children. No morals shown, no leadership shown and no comment that another of his team is wanting to sleep with children. MAGA Republican Resigns After Being Charged With Soliciting Sex From a Minor UK.YAHOO.COM Justin Eichorn was arrested the same day he tried to make "Trump Derangement Syndrome" a recognized mental illness
  12. There was a similar thread a while ago, boards generally or go back the next day with a pressure washer if I remember right
  13. 'tis true that the authorities moved him for his safety, there are 3 or 4 'marks' on his head and he has it easier where he is now than others similarly segregated. Still whinging that he hasn't been murdered but been kept safe though.
  14. But... the prisoners that The Conservative party released early are all OK? And of course, not a patch on your hero, the Rapist, Trump, who released hundred of 'insurrection' criminals all at once with no checks as to their actual crimes, just "off you go lads"... assault on the police, the odd murder, rioting, criminal damages, trying to overturn the state, off you go... free as birds.
  15. That's the story I am getting, along with the advice to take a brand new phone with you in case you have said anything critical of Trump ever, but generally avoid the US. Trumps administration hates free speech.
  16. Still stinking of hypocrisy, the well documented hatred of "Net Zero" and yet, happy to take that shiny shilling. EDIT. And a massive bucket load of them too
  17. I think you are aware that not everyone who serves comes back all fine and dandy? I think you are also aware that Mark was not talking specifics about JohnsonD? and yet, swing it all back to being about JohnsonD, quelle surprise!
  18. This one intrigues me, 5k cost, you'd want payback in 10 years? £500 a year plus interest, you'd need £800 to £1000 a year in sales to cover it's cost? (10 year payback, paying yourself 10% to 15% interest on the money you loaned the business - any less you'd do better putting it away for 10 years in bonds somewhere). So for it to pay off that is 200 chains a year, plus postage back, plus your time, you'd have to be doing a lot of work with that I think to pay for the machine? Different if you had the machine and wanted it to make a bit of money then you could perhaps discount the repayments, all profit on something you'd have anyway, then 1 chain is profitable. Might be you use it almost as a loss leader to drive other business your way
  19. Ahh, so irrespective of employment, retirement, or unemployment we can all have a political opinion again? Glad to hear that. I'll go back to the default that in a political thread employment status is irrelevant.
  20. Straight from the words you typed - your numbers, not mine. Muchly bragging from The JohnsonD about his wages in the past if anyone missed that or the numbers. Mostly the posts were anger that The Labour Party were taxing the high earners more than The Conservatives were, instead of those on an UK average wage, or the lower amount, the average wage in the Arb industry (which are about 1/4 to 1/3 of what The JohnsonD earns)
  21. So... is there an approved list of occupations that qualify us to have a political opinion?
  22. I reckon I mentioned before though Gareth, I'll let you know when I become king of the world, else generally in a political thread it is an irrelevance.
  23. Only using your numbers. ~£120k wage. But... wrong thread.
  24. Now I assume 'taxing into oblivion' refers to vehicles. How much of your £120k wage is being 'taxed to oblivion'? However I am pretty sure that Trumpy has nothing to do with that?
  25. No, not sure which thread 'Bag of Shite' belongs in, perhaps the ones about litter picking, unless you are referring to politicians in which case POTUS or Labour are good choices.
