Ancient oak tree cut down in Whitewebbs Park Enfield
Steven P replied to stick-man-max's topic in General chat
Reading around the story, it does seam a lot like as quick as possible, chop it down and run. -
you're right, complete head fck, your switcheroo from All Muslims are bad to nearly all Muslims are OK, and you have been thinking this since the article was released in 2022 that most Muslims are OK.
-
To be honest, JohnsonD, you post so much rubbish, page long screen grabs that it is depressing to the soul to click on the link to another racists linkedin page - it is easy to assume that what you post is current and not years old. You are still missing the point, as noted above of your complete 180 switch from "All Muslims are Bad" to "99.99% of Muslims are good, apart from a few radicalised ones", complete switcheroo. For the record, I don't believe you have had a sudden change of heart and fundamentally you still only believe negative things from them.
-
Missed the point there that you've changed your tune, a complete 180 degrees. Was only a few weeks ago that any Muslim in the news for any offence and you were all over this forum like a rash "Aren't all Muslims bad".. and today "As I’ve always said there is a huge difference between radical Islam and your everyday practicing Muslim.".. which you haven't. Complete ignoring of any similar offences by anyone practicing any other religion. So ask again, are you sure about that one?
-
Are you sure about that one? Is the change of tune the fact that the Trump administration is saying it is genocide?

Would be a 1 time install, replacement in 30-40 years time when the trees might be suitable for a crown lift if necessary. Are we looking at 1 to 2m overlap from the transformer to the tree branches?

But try to raise the game at least, if you think his posts are just cut and paste then try not to go lower and fire out the insults, flip the other way at least with educated commentary perhaps? Should be easy to respond and explain the errors, just firing out the insults kind of lends weight to the thought that perhaps... perhaps the cut and paste 'drivel and hair dye' are actually how it is don't they?
-
Gareth, I know you can, but try a constructive argument? Today: - "you're posts are monkey doings" - "you're TDS dribbling" Hardly the posts of an educated man, Assuming you watched the clip and not just reacting cause your hero is getting some more stick. What are the errors and inaccuracies in the clip? Considering most folks will read the words before watching the video might be you'll be saving them time if it is as shockingly bad as you want to make out... So what are the errors? (personally, haven't had time to watch it yet, something for my evening viewing)

I keep looking at Parkside but think it would do the job but not be stunning. Generally with battery saws the higher voltage the battery the more powerful it will be, but within that range, the brand names will generally be a bit more powerful again - better motors and so on. For £200 though, battery voltage is the key. A 16" chain will cut through a 30" log by the way, I've never had any firewood delivered to home that diameter, so my first recommendation would be 12" or 14" chain. Shorter chain but less likely to get bogged down. B&Q have a clearance Erbauer at £209 which might do the job, 12" chain

"does that make you feel better".... the snide remarks.. though I am sure that doesn't need pointing out Likewise "You can't bill your union hours for being on here ", right back at you, neither can you.

no, no, keep up with discussion and slide away from snide remarks and attacks.

This is going to go round and around... Pop over to google Gareth, check where the left / right wing sentiments are, think you'll find that your views are not so centrist, but firmly in the 'right' camp - thinking that the state should be smaller, reduced costs, private enterprises and so on. Nothing bad with opposing views, till you get to the extremes and you start getting intolerances in there, but left - right views are OK. Since Tony Blair the Labour party have positioned them selves to the right of centre, but to the left of the Tory party. Their current objectives are financial with the outcome of that being a right wing stance at the expense of their traditional left wing position. No surprises he was labelled "Tory Blair". So no, you are right wing but not (according to your posts here) in a bad way. Anyway, that great orator will be awake soon, brace for a barrage of posts how the US are embracing Trumpy for all his failures. Probably need a longer screen to fit in all the screen shots.
-
And the centre mark is the gap Liberal - Labour Centrist.... you should tell your fingers this because the way you type your posts to be honest are doing your core values a disservice.

?? What happened there then? I was fully expecting to pause for lunch to find JohnsonD all over the shop how the New York Cabbies are singing nothing but praise for The Trump, that the shops are adorned with MAGA bunting, Times square ticker is showing news we don't get here how Trump is solving humanitarian crisis and wars around the world. And then we get a post attacking the UK government? Perhaps real Americans need educating to your view that The Rapist is actually a fantastic man, one to have over for dinner so long as you don't mention his rapes, bankruptcies, world leading number of impeachments, tanking his besties Tesla stock, and then all stocks, and the cronyism to make his pals billions at the cost of the ordinary '401k' holders. So long as you avoid that he'd be great to have for dinner... oh, I'd also not invite the wife or kids though.
-
Anyway, this is going to mess with the millions of little time Americans warming their fingers up to make the affordable iphones that Trump was lining them up for jobs doing so - I guess after sacking them from said council jobs they'll be disappointed? No tariffs on imported tech bits. Cannot see who this is a win for in the US considering all he has told us that the tariffs would be biggly winning for all, manufacturing in the US. I guess only winners would be the billionaire big tech owners? Surely not from a man working for the people and with morals to pleasure his few pals?. Trump exempts phones, computers and other electronics from his tariffs on Chinese goods UK.YAHOO.COM The move is seen as a win for big U.S. tech companies, whose founders have donated millions to Trump’s campaign and inauguration No ta

We're still talking US councils arn't we? The ones under the remit of the headliner? one to add to the urban dictionary: "Waffle waffle waffle dribbling TDS": Ability to use Google (other search engines are available) to actually find the truth.

Assuming your referring to this policy of placing weather station? Which kind of excludes exclusive placement of weather stations on runways and follows "internationally-agreed rigorous quality-control process"? Weather stations WEATHER.METOFFICE.GOV.UK The Met Office has a weather station network across the whole UK, with more than 200 automatic stations. and these locations. So a quick check of the 90 or so in Scotland, 4 are in or around airports, hardly an overriding bias Synoptic and climate stations WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK The map shows the current network of automatic (synoptic) and manual (climate) stations covering the UK. and certainly a weather station at say, Prestwick airport is no reason for the Trumpeting Rapist (whoops, nearly wrote racist, that works too I guess), no reason for him to cancel US weather forecasting is it? Mind my view is if I have the opportunity to improve something, make it better or to cancel something that people rely on, my first port of call is improvements. I guess that is why my job is not POTUS (and they wouldn't let me anyway). In fact, he'd like weather forecasting down there for his golf course I reckon. Cannot make money if it is rainy, so use the forecast to roster on staff for good weather and not so many for bad weather.
-
I never realised that the Met Office only had monitoring stations on runways.
-
But one of their base models is provided by the UK Met Office.... so trusted or not?

BBC rain cloud radar is good for me, gives me best times to go out on the paddleboard, generally within 5 mins given an hour look ahead, or up on the hills (enough data hours ahead of time to give me an estimated best time for a dry sandwich stop). Apart from that, hundreds of uses for accurate forecasting in the UK, I am surprised that in the US they have no need for accurate weather forecasts. Imagine with no forecasts, our next holiday "Excuse me hotel, what is the weather going to do today?" "It's going to be summer" "So does that mean rain jacket or shorts" "All we know is it is July so the weather will be summer" Vodaphone are doing some interesting stuff - Midlands way I think - the signal between phone masts degrades when humidity levels rise, coordinating between masts can pin point rain showers more accurately than radar. News story was this week, I think they do the same in the Netherlands. For the finances, Gareth suggests they spend 5 times more on forecasting? For a landmass 40 times larger than the UK? Sounds like they are doing well for the money. As for private vs public.... private sounds good till you look at the UKs privatised companies for comparison and the awesome job they are doing. It is a feature that doesn't lend itself to monetising really, there are no big profits, so the big investments won't be there and the big finances won't be there to rip out the profits to shareholders

never underestimate the power of "you are not allowed to do that" -
I haven't looked at the age demographic though - yes, I'd tend to agree that let them go quick so that they can get out there, retrain, enter a new line of work and be happy productive workers. All well and good if you are under say 35. Once you get past 50, retrain and enter the workforce is going to take 5 to 7 years... you are starting a new career aged nearly 60.. and who is going to employ a near 60 year old 'new start' knowing they'll only get 5 years profitable work from them? Aligned with this near 60 year old looking for a new career, there could be another 4000 of them similarly recently trained looking for new jobs in a town where there are not that many vacancies. Let them move for work? Away from their lifelong homes, kids and grandkids? Look to the North East, it takes generations to revitalise an area when the sole major employer closes, holistically a managed decline is a better option I think, let them retire where they work, and develop the young to move into new industries.

Unfortunately a consequence of Thatcher - the Right wing hero - breaking the miners unions and subsequently the downfall of the UK coal industry. 40 years ago. Would be great if it was viable but with no UK iron ore mines to speak of, no coal mines to speak of the only raw material we produce is limestone - blast furnaces are usually best sited near the raw materials - wales had the coal locally, Redcar had ironstone and coal, Scunthorpe iron ore and lime, Sheffield coal, iron, hydro power, 'British Steel' in its various names and owners only really profitable recently because of the special steels division (rail steels and so on)... I'm not holding my breath that public ownership will reverse years of decline... but give it a go, it is better than throwing thousands of employees on the scrap heap.

If there is no suitable machine access to carry it away, First thoughts are a massive bonfire (heat should weaken the mud, and take out some of the roots, what is left should break up) Second thought is a pressure washer - soak it for a couple of days then pressure wash the mud out. Doesn't look like a quick job however you do it Remembering back to the thread on stump grinder injuries to shy away from suggesting that
