  1. No it doesn't self tend like a spiderjack and IMO it doesn't self tend all that well as you need need to be about 20ft up until there is enough rope through it to self tend smoothly and well. I think the ZZ is flawed in that sense and I hated it in that set up however after playing around I have it set up now where I love it. I have a tree motion so I have a crab from bridge with a 20cm strap (2.5ton rated) to crab ZZ so I handle my rope from underneath the ZZ so on ascent I pull my rope underneath and through the ZZ so I'm tending my rope as I go so to speak, it's amazing, also on descent the ZZ seems to be in a perfect position to handle and control for me. In that set up I love it. I mentioned my harness as a guide for bridge length as if you have a shorter bridge you'll want a bigger strap. In that set up I would recommend one to anyone!! Hope this helps you Joe. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

It was my favourite everyday saw until today when the boss decided to fell a sycamore pole and aim for it!!!! Well strip it down and see if it is worth salvaging but I'm not holding my breath!! Are these lathes any good? I have one and I'm not sure if it's complete or missing a couple of bits and whether I want to keep or sell it now? I had every intention of learning to turn however it has been sat in my garage for 18 months as I haven't had the time thus far. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  20. 13mm is fine after all the ZZ is made to handle 11-13mm it may not be as efficient but it works well for me and as I have said I'll move too 11.7 when this rope needs changing I really hate waste so 13mm it is for now....... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. It is yes it's ok to be fair as soon as it's done though I'll probably be asking for suggestions on here of what people prefer with there ZZ. Don't want to buy a new rope now knowing this 1 will be sat there never to be used it would just seem a waste. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  25. I have a krab on bridge to a 20cm strap to krab ZZ. It is just long enough to pull the rope from underneath the ZZ straight through it but short enough to handle and descent with ease. You can practically walk up the tree, it's a great set up and so simple. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
