  11. In terms of how we benchmark the scheme, this is principally against, for instance, BS3998, and as contributors to its production, and the plethora of H&S and Environ. and Wildlife etc. etc. legislation. Also, and most importantly, we regularly consult with the HSE who, in turn, refer to the scheme (well actually the scheme standards) as an industry benchmark. Clearly this is important as if the regulator didn't like it, or thought it was lacking, they wouldn't go near it. We should all be working towards these principles regardless of accreditation. I completely agree that if it was enforced upon the industry it would definitely increase standards however the time and money spent to gain approval then the time and money spent advertising it and making people aware could perhaps be put to better use by small outfits. I am definitely not against accreditation or the message you are sending out by the way, just thinking out loud really. Who knows you may see me in attendance in the future .... Cheers Wes Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. It's naive to think one would use this forum as a yard stick seeing as you are only seeing snippets of what others do. It is also naive to think there are not excellent firms out there that don't carry your accreditation. I do not think you need a few initials and to pay someone to measure/benchmark yourself against others. Being AA approved doesn't mean you will follow best practices or work to British standards etc. We only have to look at the video floating around of the pop being felled! Who is your benchmark? Like I say I'm not against accreditations and yours may be excellent if it carries the weight to win you more work and it brings you work in which covers the time and fees to be approved. 13. Sounds like being taught to suck eggs! If you can't manage to make simple diary entries on a mobile device and ring people back off your own back then you don't deserve to do well. I'd rather not pay for a few initials to make sure I'm on top of my paperwork. If they offer a lot more and jobs are raining in because of it then fair enough BUT if you have high standards and are on top of your game both physically and in the paperwork department then what's the point? 14. Yes exactly I still like to work around a tree though where the groundies don't have to pick up a saw at all or bare minimum. It was a cracking climb and came down sharpish we have even saved a good 8-10 ft section to be milled at a later date which also meant less ringing up. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. That's what I do with the Grillon I split it all down to individual items, get the ticks in the boxes then make it up as I please with passed items. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. The limbs where thick set and messing around with tension and compression on the deck and stripping it probably would have taken the same amount of time as climb strip fell only took 2 hours to get it on the floor with all brash chipped and tbf I come down for 20 mins mid strip to give the guys on the floor a lift as it was a long drag to the chipper and 2 climbers doing 2 different trees with only 2 lads on the deck. It just seemed easier to climb and send it down in bits ready to chip and it looked and was an enjoyable climb. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
