Parking tickets/fines etc can be made the drivers responsibility, however maintenance & service might be a different story, it could be looked at like PEWR regs, it will be owned by you, provided by you, if the driver neglects to get it serviced/maintained and has/causes an accident, god forbid causes a fatality, YOU could be had for corporate manslaughter. We have a small fleet, we make the driver sign a weekly time sheet that states he has checked the oil level, tyres and lighting, they also sign a document to say they will not use the vehicle for private milage and we have tracker on them, that way they will not be taxed, if they want to use the vehicle to go to the chippy or local tip let's say, they seek permission first, the ruling is "occasionall use" otherwise they are liable for taxation. With regards to policy, you can write a simple list of your requirements and conditions and the driver signs to accept them (in duplicate) and provide him with a dated copy. Hope this helps.

That's funny that, I've just changed from a 3 year old D-Max to a 7 year old Hi-Lux and people think I'm doing better? Love the Hi-Lux over the Isuzu though. Smart casual me!

I used to go through phones every few months, had this a year now. Does anyone use a mobile they consider indestructible? I am looking for a phone that will stand up to the daily abuse they can sometimes receive in our industry, especially when climbing or dragging timber?

Anybody know anything about Fisher climbing spikes? Aluminium or steel? And leather straps or Velcro? Looks like they have sold hundreds of the steel version but not so many of the aluminium ones. I found them on eBay and am leaning towards the aluminium with Velcro pads at £125. Will be my first pair and not used very often. Any info on them would be really appreciated. Thanks Gordon.

Just ordered a pair of Arbourtec breathflex, not too sure how good they are but hoping they are cooler than the Oregon ones as they made me sweat like mad!

My dealer told me to only us Husqvarna XP oil in my 550xp! I use super unleaded simply because it has no ethanol in it (if you get the right fuel brand) just don't leave fuel in the saw for too long if your use is low! Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app

Percy, Firstly when I am quoting after someone else I will not give them my price there an then, I will look at it, take a few pictures, make a few notes then get all thier contact details and then prepare and send the quote. If I think the job is worth doing it will cost it fairly. If I think it's a pig of a job, I will cost it heavy (it's got to return you a profit) if I don't want it I will tell the customer face to face, usually whilst I'm there on the site survey. I never get into a Dutch auction, it just lowers everybody's margin and effects standards in the long run. Never sell yourself short, we have to work hard for what we get. If you get the job and there is a second job to be done then you can add a little more to the second quote but give them a repeat customer discount, looks good on paper and the customer has that feel good factor because the feel they've saved a little. Ironbark, They are 31x10.5x15 floatation size. I've had the truck three weeks, slightly noisy at speed but normal driving in the dry seems great, take it easy in wet conditions, been in soft wet mud, goes anywhere! Had the old BFG mud terrains on my Defender and I would say these are much better, I have a 2012 D-Max with BFG all terrains on it wich have covered 55000 without even a puncture, but they are due for replacing any day now. In my opinion you can't beat BFG!

Are you sure the drive links are not bottoming out in the bar groove? Is the bar ok and are the rails worn down enough to allow the drive links to scrape the bottom groove? It also looks like the chain could be sloppy in the groove, IE. The bar groove is too wide for the drive links, (chain and bar are not a match)?

Check out the husqvarna 435, great little saw, starts very easy, easy to maintain, low kickback chain, but please don't use a saw without chainsaw protective equipment, and as mentioned above do look into getting some training even if basic. Look at doing an ITA course (no assessment) but very informative. Good luck. Gordon.
