Biden rests head on his hands during tense exchange with Fox reporter after Kabul statement APPLE.NEWS Exchange occurred after president called Peter Doocy ‘most interesting’ man in media Worth watching For all his faults at least Trump could hold his own in a press conference. Americans must be looking at this and wondering what the hell they voted for. During this whole mess in Afghanistan he thinks it’s a good idea to throw in a sarcastic one liner to kick off a question !!!

Had it a while now Andy, it was a joe special that and the chain morticer plus a few other bits if I remember correctly for an XJR 1300 cafe racer unfinished project
-
I’ve got one Andy if you want to try it bud before committing its not the lightest thing to handle but does a cracking job. That’s lad doing his mantle piece. You are right though it’s not a cheap bit of kit 🤮
-
Looks like a cracking bit of kit Andy. That’s not great pdi quality control etc to say least. Logs look lovely stacked together bud, I’m sure some strategically placed long timber screws and the weight of the whole cabin walls and roof would go a long way to helping with excessive movement. 👍

Limited Market !!! Announcements such as this are a daily occurrence with the current wind energy boom in full swing, rather than limited the market is enormous.
-
You are right we won’t agree you have obviously given up closed your mind and are happy with the current set up. When did I say half a million jobs was not important ??? the debate on this has been quite civilised but I do get the impression you are very rarely wrong Alec. My views on thatcher and how she obliterated mining communities due to pits being unprofitable then put a whole village of say 1500 in my case on the dole, and subsequently proceeded to import coal from all over the world often from countries with far worse safety standards than ours won’t change. Luckily I do think people are waking up to the whole free for all around our coast and are more or less asking the questions I’ve put so hopefully people won’t be content with the current state of affairs. Substation jackets and all the extra monopoles or deep water tripods etc ????? Alec there is work for years and years to come in this industry probably for far longer than you or I will be here.

Limited demand 😳😳😳your whole argument falls down with that comment alone. Sorry but the demand is so limited that multiple overseas companies are ploughing billions into supplying it and it’s forecast to expand year on year 🤷♂️. If we had taken a fraction of the money over the years that’s been wasted on the lunacy that’s gone hand in hand with covid and actually trained or invested in our young people we would be In a far better place. The government of the UK including the devolved money pits needs to be held to account for the failure to enforce the minimum local supply chain commitments made a few year back.

No preconceptions just a realisation that 73000 or even half a million is nowhere near the amount of jobs that are lost when all we do is resign ourselves to importing everything. I’m happy to want a better future rather than be resigned to the current state of affairs. If I’m disappointed then so be it, if it takes years to rebuild the skills and Infrastructure we used to have so be it, our need for energy is not going to vanish in the next 5 or 10 years, I do not adhere to the balance book type of management that was thatchers trademark. I saw first hand in my own area the damage that caused in the name of cost effectiveness. I’m well aware of what pharmaceutical companies can bring to an area and take away too, I remember one company changing its name overnight at Stakeford a good few years back from Union Carbide to something more palatable at the time. The one thing we agree on is we have a different outlook, we don’t need to be a world wide supplier of everything there is enough going on around our coast to support a well planned and managed supply chain for the industry the post referred to right from the construction to the commissioning and life cycle maintenance etc. If we don’t do something then it’s yet another opportunity lost for tens of thousands of families, I wholeheartedly stand by what I said at beginning. A simple minimum local content stipulation in contracts would be a good starting point. At the end of the day we are the end user and therefore picking up the bill. These companies are not doing this for the environment it’s for shareholders or in many cases other partially state owned companies benefit. As an afterthought this limited domestic renewable market you speak of ???. You do realise the amount of work that is currently being undertaken around the UK coastline in regards renewable energy and the billions involved I’m presuming !!, never mind the consequential carbon footprint that comes with shipping this stuff from one side of the planet to the other.
-
We ain’t gonna agree on anything I fear. I’ve not got the time to cover all the points but take a look at the picture I’ve attached and tell me that the building of those on our shores would not benefit thousands of working class families not just a few scientists or phd holders etc looking for genomes. By sea from Singapore 👍👍green energy my arse it’s all about profit.

We as in the people’s within the boundaries of the UK. Raw materials can be sourced worldwide etc as many of the countries manufacturing the stuff we import also lack the base materials required yet still have in place the industries that would benefit thousands here. The rest whilst long winded and well written just says that nothing in your eyes is worth changing. Sadly we have politicians and management of most big UK plcs that think of only tomorrow and this years set of results for shareholders too🤷♂️🤷♂️ Regarding state aid or support many of our European neighbours have had a much more relaxed view on those rules than we have for years. What we lack is long term planning, vision and belief that things can be better. Too many years of shit shit government policies and utter greed.
-
That’s worked well for many communities in the last 30 yrs hasn’t it 🤷♂️🤷♂️As we import more and more from overseas we are contributing to the destruction of our own environment and condemning hundreds of thousands to unemployment. You can not rely on others as far as I’m concerned, we should have the capacity to at least stand on our own2 feet for most part. Globalisation and full on capitalism that often accompanies it is a cancer as far as I’m concerned.
-
They already have and are Mark Blades for some are made in Hull now, foreign firm but it still brings jobs.
-
So we just content ourselves with the current situation 🤷♂️🤷♂️ How sad would that be if there is zero appetite for change.. Everything you say has an element of truth but if we don’t change where does that leave us eventually??. 100% reliant/vulnerable to overseas governments and companies. Licence built products are nothing new and me personally I feel not having a domestic steel industry is insanity. Too much to go into right now but as I say often the job opportunities being missed are massive. I’m just to about to go on shift here out on a Job in the UK sector North Sea we are on a Norwegian ship built in Poland fitted out in Norway the officers are all Norwegian the remainder of the crew are Philippines nationals doing 6-9 month trips. Not one member of the boat crew is a UK National, that’s a pattern you will see throughout the oil and gas and Renewables sector. Project crew is comprised of thankfully UK guys. The client/company is yet another foreign outfit that have bought an ageing UK NSea asset to suck the last few quid out of it for minimum outlay.

Medical part of FAC renewal/ownership now enables/obliged your Dr to inform police if you so much as go in and tell them you are feeling a bit down etc
-
Surprised at the tone of the first sentence Mark, FAC and Shotgun holder for 25 yrs bud, I know how hard it is to keep hold of both. There are supposedly controls in place Mark relating to mental health, criminal records, valid reason to possess and over the years most cases of this nature inc Hamilton at Dunblane have had when the dust settles a point where the opportunity to remove the firearm was missed. I’ve a mate up here who is currently going to court to get his rifles back after being involved in nothing more than a heated disagreement over a traffic collision. Armed response team at his door and took the lot away due to an alleged assault. Anyway as I said at beginning it’s starting to look like !!, if I’m wrong then I’m wrong.

Plymouth shooting: Mother of gunman Jake Davison named among five victims APPLE.NEWS The mother of Plymouth gunman Jake Davison has been named as one of the five victims of the... Early days yet and a tragedy for the innocent victims but it’s starting to look yet again that police failure to implement current legislation has contributed to this. Hopefully it will not be used to demand even more unnecessary controls.
-
These are different jackets Mark but pretty much more of the same in regards made overseas and shipped here all in the name of maximum profit.
-
Sorry bud but I’m quite busy at work the moment on 6-6 nights and don’t have time to get into a long drawn out explanation. A few others here have picked up on what I’m on about, bit of google action and some research will give far more insight than I ever could.

Predominantly manufactured in the middle and Far East inc China. Wages etc but a number of other reasons as well. End of the day we have to at some point to start looking long term at building some sort of manufacturing base back up. Let’s not forget these companies do not give a shit about green energy in the UK they see this as a huge payday and will build everything they can in the cheapest yard they can find. Legislated minimum local content has to be put in place at the beginning of any contract negotiations. Just an example of the profits being made 🙄 these firms are absolutely piling in to undertake these projects and one things fore sure it’s not for the greater good of the environment or they’d build them on the doorstep and save the environmental impact of multiple journeys halfway round the world. It has to be if you want to put it around the coast here and UK consumers are gonna pay you have to build it here 🤷♂️Simple.
-
If ever there was an opportunity to try and put it back in place this is it though Stubby, the lack of government legislation or drive to help on this is disgusting, both Westminster and Holyrood. Tens of thousands of skilled jobs and the benefits that would bring are what we are throwing away yes it may take years to get there but surely we have to start somewhere and look at a long term vision or plan of how things should be rather than just a quick buck as we did with NSea oil.
-
Not sure if many people who see the huge eventually Uk tax payer funded free for all that is currently happening all around our coastline in regards the installation of wind turbines and associated infrastructure ie sub stations and cables etc, actually stop to think where it comes from. Yes we have all the politicians talking about how we are a world leader In green energy and some lovely well made tv commercials but in reality we are a world leader in buying in overseas manufactured eqpt to build and install these windfarms resulting in billions of pounds of profits and thousands of potential jobs and the benefits this would bring to communities going overseas to the cheapest bidders, often China the Far East or UAE. Never mind the so called green credentials 🤷♂️🤷♂️These things are shipped half way around the world once made to be installed by foreign flagged vessels with mainly foreign crews in UK waters. Why ??? Simple answer is the long term profits are astronomical for these companies. This is shaping up to be a wasted opportunity on the scale of the Uk N Sea oil boom of the 70s yet its hardly known about. The few pics attached are just a fragment of the info out there if you look for it. The numbers ie money involved is staggering.
-
Yet another example of a wasted opportunity to create thousands of jobs and bring in revenue to the UK. Sad thing is it’s happening all around the coast and hardly anyone is aware of the scale of the tax payer funded free for all that is making billions for overseas contractors and companies.

Cpc is a money making piss take

The answer is not to fetch in cheap labour Mark it lies in training our own young. Labour Party !!! Supposedly the party of the working man 🤷♂️“What a joke”🤷♂️How does fetching people in to do jobs that can be done by people here if they have some time and money invested in them help this country long term. By the way Mark I’m not sure if you are aware but the training to get to HGV standard is not years or months bud it’s weeks and with a fraction of the cash we have spunked on this covid farce we could easy train up as many drivers is required. I work with a few guys whom were trained up on a government scheme as divers in the 80s due to a shortage of the those skills that were required offshore back then so it’s not an unprecedented option.
