  1. Starmer plans to block all new North Sea oil and gas developments APPLE.NEWS Sir Keir Starmer will announce plans to block all new North Sea oil and gas developments and limit... Utter nonsense and totally indicative of the man, not to mention extremely dangerous for the UK to introduce a policy that will make us even more reliant on imported products. He should pop over to Norway and see how a sensible long term policy is being implemented. Throw in his knee taking blm shit and it’s no wonder he’s not that far ahead of Sunak. The green energy superpower waffle just does not stand up to any form of scrutiny whatsoever.
  2. Cashless Britain is a disaster waiting to happen APPLE.NEWS Relentless march towards digital payments doesn’t benefit the average consumer Hopefully people wake up at some point to what this cashless society might actually be like rather than just being lazy and going for the easy option. Me personally if they won’t take cash I won’t shop with them. Not a huge loss but if millions adopted the same attitude then I’ve no doubt the policies would rapidly disappear.
  3. Labour's Rachel Reeves flies in 'luxury' then tries to hide the evidence by photoshopping picture of her ticket APPLE.NEWS Labour's Rachel Reeves has been criticised after editing photos posted to her Twitter in an... Had to laugh when I read this, the old champagne socialist click within Labour is alive and well. I wonder if the likes of those legendary working class icons Blair and Mandleson would lower themselves to flying in such humble seats.
  4. You just need to watch how the police in Australia dealt with things a short while ago to realise how they are capable of behaving.
  5. Yeah decent size Andy at least 1.3m diameter, too much to trim to fit the mill, Alaskan wasn’t too slow at slabbing it up. The lad who I was doing it for is a joiner and has plans for his property which is where the beams will end up eventually, Job was on the family farm where we had use of a decent telehandler and to be honest he was very hands on knew what was what and mucked in for the whole day which helped. Long day 13hrs on-site plus travel but worth it. looking forward to getting back into dive control for a rest 😂.
  6. Rishi, it falls to you to cure the national malaise Covid has spread APPLE.NEWS COMMENT
  7. Record numbers not working due to ill health APPLE.NEWS Mental health issues and back and neck pain have contributed to the rise in long-term sickness. Mental health issues !! back and neck issues due to home working 😞🤷‍♂️the insanity that was covid just seems to keep giving more and more.
  8. No it was just a chat we were having whilst I was up collecting some brackets he’d knocked up, it’s not a small property by any standards but the cost and break even forecast were all he mentioned.
  9. 🤷‍♂️I guess at the time he thought not.
  10. He’s an agricultural building fabricator and erector by trade and I think that price is with him doing much for the work himself, he’s lucky in-as much as he’s on the family farm so can set up the panel array away from house and at the optimal bearing. As I’ve just stated if money was no concern I’d probably be heading that route. I’m currently paying average £150 a month plus oil for the heating (rural so no gas )whereas he was on £400 but that covered everything. Luckily the wood burning stove is the primary source of heat for us 90% of the time and that’s fed exclusively with waste from milling.
  11. New build property and incorporated from day one. The facts and figures you posted are very interesting. If I had a spare chunk of cash I’d more than likely try to go that route myself and or a small wind turbine
  12. I’m just curious and in no way contradicting what you are saying but how are the profits currently being made within the wind industry any different or less attractive to corporations than the profits being made by say nuclear energy providers??. I have been involved in the offshore side of things with the wind energy industry and have seen firsthand the absolute free for all cash cow that this has become for predominantly overseas companies. Regarding the solar energy/storage set up you mentioned what may I ask was the installation cost and the projected break even point, and does this provide you with all the power you require on a day to day basis Ive a neighbour up here in Aberdeenshire looking to put in a system that’s costing him around 15k he estimates 8 years to break even and is only putting it up as his air source heat pump system is proving to be horrendously expensive to run.
  13. I don’t subscribe neither the article I read wasn’t behind a paywall at the time.
  14. The wind and solar power myth has finally been exposed WWW.TELEGRAPH.CO.UK The necessary miracle doesn't exist Am interesting article, admittedly not from today 😞
  15. Cracking day out in Deeside for a customer milling various bits of Oak( primarily 200x200 beams ) , one log was too big for mill, had to be broken down into 200mm slabs with the Alaskan then trimmed to fit. I just do not miss that 880 banging away right next to me 😞
  16. I’m surprised you even replied 42 seeing as that article wasn’t hot off the press that day 🤔.
  17. Dear oh dear it really must be that time of month again 😞🤷‍♂️
  18. Two activists who shut down Dartford Bridge for 17 hours in eco-protest jailed for more than five years APPLE.NEWS Two Just Stop Oil protesters who scaled the Dartford Crossing bridge and caused traffic chaos have... I would have loved to have seen the look on that pairs faces when the judge handed those sentences down.
  19. COVID no longer a global health emergency, World Health Organization says APPLE.NEWS World Health Organization (WHO) officials have said COVID is no longer a global health emergency... It changed the world alright 🤷‍♂️😞for all the wrong reasons. Pure, unadulterated insanity.
  20. Very true but I do think the manner in which the French got rid of their Monarchy might have something to do with how it’s captured people’s imagination over the years. Not quite sure if it would be anywhere near as dramatic if it ever occurs here. Probably a weak willed arrangement somewhat like the Queen's tax deal a few years back, the same one that avoided Chuck paying inheritance tax recently.
  21. It would seem so “Absolutely”
  22. But sadly incorrect. was there even a point to be had from it in the first place ?? the original post is nothing but the opinion of an obviously anti monarchist type of individual or organisation with some crap stats thrown in to jazz it up a bit. Nothing more nothing less.
  23. No I’m not. Really, what is the relevance of the amount of those obesity take aways v food banks.
  24. Fascists ??? 14.4 million in poverty !!!!. As for the number of McDonald’s v food banks 🤷‍♂️is that the gauge of a decent society nowadays. I’d be happier if there was zero of those places dispensing the overpriced obesity promo crap they do.
  25. Moment furious driver 'runs over foot' of Just Stop Oil protester as group causes more London traffic chaos APPLE.NEWS This is the moment a motorist appears to plough into a Just Stop Oil protester before driving off as... Whilst it wasn’t nowhere near a “ plough into moment” at least it’s a start.
