LOL's I've never employed a tree surgeon and wouldn't be goin to no bank to draw money out for em.. slippers or no slippers.. As to some ending up driving taxi's, can't speak on that, only you aught to know your market before you set off trying to thrive in it.

who said based purely on wages?.. I did mention the aggravation involved. the cost of removal. I don't see why ordinary people should fork out for expertise. its not like chopping a tree is hard is it.. if I can do it anyone can.. and I don't see why people think they aught charge hundreds because they went and bought expensive equipment to do the job.. the reason you buy stuff is for convenience, get the job done quicker to move on to the next one... The thing is, a good tree company should represent value for money for the customer, get in get done and move on. not charge a fortune and sit around all day waiting on a check because they've charged the old dear a grand for a ten minute job...

That prick who goes about pricing a grand then subbing it is the real villain if your asking me, wants flogging within the proverbial inch for taking the piss out of customers and his subcontractors.. He and people like him are the real reason people are wary of tree surgeons. evertime I do a job they have to be remeasured I ain't gonna run off without moving the rubbish..

Whats real journalism?.. who are you to say whats real or otherwise.. if a journalist comes round to get a story after your wife's been raped by black agitators for land redistribution why wouldn't you want to give a story?.. I can't see why anyone is having a go at this fella.. the bloke who came round was taking the mick and he knew it.. the fella wanted his tree chopped at the red marks, seems straight forward to me.. turn up, two cuts and away you go.. 150 for half hrs work.. I'd like to know how people come to pricing jobs.. as far as I'm concerned it aught be pretty straight forward.. One climber 150 or there abouts.. one groundie, 70/80.. cost of getting shut of tree? this comes under how long is a piece of string.. So considering the job at hand, that tree should cost no more than a couple of hundred on a good day.. if the farmer stands in as a groundie, he saves 70/80 quid...

Its just an idea, I've been looking at a cheap four wheel trailer on ebay to try it out.. I'll do some investigating to see how chip might fall out.. or, how the weight might be distributed if full.. someone pointed it out it would be of limited use as its only gonna be good as a chip trailer. well, thats fine by me, its all I want it for...

when I say old crappy rope I mean good rope you don't mind binning afterwards if its full of shit.. you only need to make a small length to make a makeshift lanyard.. whats better, ruining a good rope or using something you can throw away?.. I'll use the throwaway if I have to..

I nearly did the same a couple of years back, after going to the trouble of buying all the new kit and learning how to use it, a friend asked me to chop one of those tree's down.. not been at it five minutes and started to get covered in sticky gunk... My solution was to go back to old school.. ladder to get into the tree, then some crappy rope to tie in if needed.. free climbed it for the most part.. My feeling were I wasn't spending hundreds to get it all full of shit for an old tree like that.. its not as though those kinds of tree's are hard to get down, straight up, chopping as you go, then work down chopping the stem..

whats a climbers typical day rate?... 150 or so?... seems to me you hire in a climber on day rate and get him to chop it down and you shift it... or am I missing something. I'd chop it down and scarper for 150. if I lived nearby that is... the fella can stand in for a groundie...

But, considering its subject matter, I'd say it was intended as a joke first, then on reflection it might be a fable/described as such.. whats also funny is I've just been ruminating on whether its a joke or fable on the way home from gettin some shoppin in.. like I have nothing better to do than contemplate this sort of stuff LOL's...

Its a joke, a fable usually involves a fox, a rabbit/hare or tortoise. this had none of those three. Plus, unlike a fable it makes one laugh.. does the hare and the tortoise fable make you laugh?, no, its designed to make you think.

A bullock is a younger male cow on top of a hill as far as I'm concerned.. and thats especially true when the said young bull is in a joke... And its even more true when I can't think what a young bull is called officially off the top of my head late on at night. To merely provoke?.... hahahaha if it takes being provocative to get a point across to make people think then I'm all in. Then theres being opinionated, I'm most definitely that. I didn't know I was opinionated till someone pointed it out, accused me of being just that as though it was a crime.. to be honest I was rather pleased with myself when I found out I was opinionated.. anything I said to myself, but please don't find me dull... Another thing I found out was me and Plato think alike and he argued the toss in much the same way I do. I didn't know that as well, and that pleased me no end to think Plato argued just like me.
