  1. Might only be local to me but last week was talking to a couple of local scrap men.. asking how much scrap was a ton these days... got to talking about waste carriers licence an all that related stuff.... told me the police had a few spot checks when the law was first introduced but they haven't seen em since... I wonder if cut backs are keeping em quiet or perhaps they're collecting enough money off em they don't want to give em added grief by checking the trucks as well as scamming money out of em... who knows?.. As to insurance, if you did have an accident I doubt the insurance company could argue you was over weight if you had the legal limit on the truck for what it was designed to carry.. I mean they might argue that to avoid paying out, but they couldn't argue that it was a contributing factor in an accident.. at least thats one thing in having a down rated truck in an accident.. the cops can't argue you was dangerously overweight and thats what caused the crash...
  2. I've a down rated Iveco tipper myself, I think its legal load is a ton.. ain't got an arb body on it mind.. a gypsy fella I know has a downrated iveco tipper with an hiab on it... dread to think what that legal load is.. all he says if I mention legal loads is what can you do, you have to keep going... I recon if you keep local and know were the police set up there traps and avoid those area's you should be OK... its what I do if I suspect I might be a touch overweight...
  3. Damn it man, people on here feel free to post personal insults at me and I decide to give em some of their own medicine.. What do you do?... first time I strike back you take sides with those idiots.. fuming!!!!.
  4. And there was me hoping to be ignored when I say owt... and by the way, at least my heart don't sink if I read down a thread and come across one of your contributions.. Dull as dishwater don't come close.... stick that up your jacksie...
  5. I'll stick with my 4 pence a day cargo pants thanks....
  6. strewth man, I should of been takin the piss over the cost not what they're called.. I hope these wimmin are fit as butchers dogs as well, wouldn't want to think they're a bunch of bed wreckers eyeing up your arse..
  7. hahahahha couldn't resist Mr Ratman, joke I heard once over thought I'd resurrect it on your account..
  8. Because he's an hero of mine in a roundabouts way.... not because he was a Roman Emperor, but because he's a great unsung historical personality.. his actions led directly to the building a new world religion.. being big on great historical personalities, I figured I couldn't do better than indulge his name for my online persona.. plus, I sort of imagined it would make people think I was some sort of pretentious megalomanical self important wanna be... and that appealed as well... sort of wind people up before they even got through to reading anything I said.. yea, there was something in that as well if I'm honest... So, why call yourself Ratman?.... you that ugly people borrow your face to chase and hunt rats ?..
  9. Why did Pfanner feel a need to call their safety trousers Gladiators... I haven't stopped laughing since I looked through their clothing range earlier tonight... they'll be coming out with spiderman gloves next.. who knows they might really push the boat out and bring a spiderman suit out as well.. what happened to calling something what it is, Pfanner forestry safety breaches/trousers... tells you what they are and what they do.. no need to appeal to the fantasies of arborists to sell a few more units is there... or is there?. And another thing, how does anyone explain that they're wearing Gladiator safety trousers to a colleague without blushing with embarrassment?... did they think of that one.....
  10. I take it you wear these gladiator trousers then?..... a.
  11. Yea I expect you're right as well.... though not for the reason you outlined... Gladiator Trousers.................. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah we know why people bought em don't we... hahaha
  12. wouldn't matter if I was a millionaire I still wouldn't pay thirty quid for a tee shirt... I wonder how many have bought the Gladiator trousers mind...
  13. Now now Ratman you know damn well I got a knee injury.. and by the way its still bothering me that that happened.. and by the way I still intend to finish before the yrs out.. rain or otherwise...
  14. You might like to ask the old woman who lives round the corner from me.. her back garden was looking like a jungle a few weeks back, I've been and finished it off today, pleased as punch as her back garden has all of a sudden doubled in size... three visits and all rubbish removed, all for the satisfying sum of forty pounds... of which she still owes a fiver.. Now she might have a four letter word for you and your tee shirts and it would certainly begin with the letter K........
  15. Just perusing the Pfanner site looking at their clothing range... Gladiator Trousers................................ seems to me their sales team have researched their client base and found what these people think of themselves.. Gladiator Trousers indeedy...... hahahahaha
  16. Well the fact remains the tee shirts you're promoting are good enough.. thats the compromise made by the manufacturers of those tee shirts.. they work as advertised.. But if your looking for breathability first, and its a good idea that you do in hot weather conditions then you should look at tee shirts designed to do just that... if your looking for lightweight breathability and warmth in winter conditions then I suggest marino wool.. all materials are a compromise to suit the conditions under which they'll be applied.. like woodchippers trailers and any other arb related equipment they isn't a perfect one for every situation..
  17. some how I can't see a tee shirt being both breathable and hard wearing at the same time... I smell bullshit coming out the salesroom... your gonna get good breath-ability or hard wearing not both.. not unless you have made a compromise in the materials used... or, your soft in the head and believe the sales guff..... which brings me to cost... considering most tee shirts are made in the far east the costs aught be minimal this day an age.. better to buy ten good breathable tee shirts than one so called compromised one with a logo on that says "I'm a Pfanny" tree man... best to look at tee shirts like disposable gloves.... use till they rip or stain and dispose of and put another one on... As Stalin once remarked, quantity has a quality all of its own...
  18. My own personal experience of Tee shirts is they're all much of a muchness.. some feel better on the skin,(cotton)hence feel better to wear... but come unstuck if they get wet as they tend to take longer to dry... So guess what, an alternative is a tee shirt made with man made materials.. lighter, and wick sweat away and dry faster as a result.. Guess what doesn't add anything to a tee shirt!!!.... sticking a dumb arse logo on em.. logo's don't make you a better climber, or hiker for that matter.. I mean if they did, every tree surgeon would be climbing tree's with a batman outfit hired from the local fancy dress store now wouldn't they?... Ah, a thought..................... its because a tee shirt has a certain logo that it actually makes the wearer feel like spiderman, or batman, or the incredible hulk... or dare I say it, like a proper tree surgeon!!!!!!!....
  19. Errrr, we are talking about tee shirts are we not?.... I do wear them myself, and have researched them thoroughly.. doin the odd hundred mile hike you tend to research everything to get the weight down.. including the shirt/tee shirt... so I know what I'm talking about when discussing the types of tee shirts available, their qualities and shortcomings... all depend on the material, never on the logo.. Now if you can explain why a tee shirt with a Pfanner logo works better than another tee shirt without, but made of the very same material I'd be interested to to read your explanation...
  20. Never paid over the odds because a manufacturer stuck their logo on a tee shirt as well... as bad a football fans payin fifty pound for a top that costs a fiver at most.. a fool and his money spring to mind...
  21. How much are these pfanners?.. might be you're suffering from confirmation bias.. buy half a dozen cheapo sports shirts write Pfanners in black felt tip on em and I'll bet you'll think there as good or better than the original ones you bought for top dollar..
  22. What matters is the material not what tee shirt... man made fibres, cool light and fast drying.. cotton hold onto water and take an age to dry... just pop down to any sportswear store and pick up any old shirt that takes your fancy... the downside to man made fibres is they soon stink up..... so take a couple of em if your bothered by that sort of thing...
  23. I just went to price a garden job and decided why I was there I'd remove the scraggly little tree hiding behind her greenhouse.. she lives down the road from my house.. Gave me four pound fifty for my troubles.. I told her I didn't want owt bar the cup of coffee but she insisted I get paid...
  24. step down you mean, nothin beats picking a blower up and putting it down without the rigmoroll of faffing to get it on an off every two minutes...
  25. Came across a vid of the TP100, the latest version.. didn't know they'd upgraded it.. seems they have an add on to help you move it about.. no idea how it works or how they've managed it.. but anyway they have a short vid of it in action.,.
