There are things that are beyond our control but obviously you can check the tip with binoculars,its not fullproof but it helps.But we can reduce the risk to the items under our control such as our kit

I think its pretty obvious no one would cut near there bridge,but accidents happen,in the event of a kick back its possible the saw could catch your bridge..

Great! So two short bridges with splices on each side of the harness.Thats surley a genuine design idea for harness developement

How many climbers-be honest-lanyard in on every cut..? Ive cut with no secondary on,my point is yeah 99% of the time a second bridge would be redundant but all it takes it a split second brain lapse,and your out the tree...this is where a second bridge would come into play. I really dont think it would get in the way though

Yes tthat is a possibility thats why the wirecore option mentioned earlier would have a greater chance of surviving a cut from a saw

You would always be tied in with lanyard anyway while cutting,but if the bridge fails/gets cut,your stranded aloft,and the ribbing from the lads would be mercyless

Too me tickets are only part of it.If someone is a great worker with a genuine interest in arboriculture id pay them more than a person with the relevant groundie tickets but doesnt give a toss about pulling his weight or furthering themselves.

Could do the same with a zigzag too.It does mean clipping on before cutting and off after though,some-probably me included- would quickly tire of that. I think the back up bridge is easier as your biner on your mainline goes round both bridges or onto the ring which is on both bridges you know

I dont think disliking the harness or the bridge has anything to do with it.Its being prepared in the event of a compromised bridge

Did i say i didnt like the standard bridge..? No...so dont put words in my mouth please.As i stated above its a secondary back up bridge as in running 2 bridges incase the primary gets nicked or compromised.

Hi all,I was wondering if any of you climbers put a back up bridge on your harness.Ive seen more and more climbers do it.I have a treemotion and it would be easy to fit. It would be removed for loler and only a back up incase the bridge got cut or badly nicked. Thoughts.. Thank you

You can acheive the same thing on ddrt using a choker with 2 rings on it around the stem. That can be moved down by flipping your rope to tie in again at waist level

Ive had marlow gecko rope 13mm,it seved its purpose,i didnt buy it i was issued it at work. Pretty bulky,heavy rope. We all learn through experience mate dont sweat it.Jyst get youself a decent rope next
