  1. Dry days im more prone to use zigzag, wet days i find it creeps sometimes. Ive noticed on slimey wet ropes it creeps a lot too,i use 11.7mm tachyon. Tbh most days im climbing i use the hitch climber, but again some days i cant be arsed tying hitches, gettin my gloves jammed in the hitch so i ll go to the zz. Ive no real preference just i find both have there places in my kit bag-dependant on the job, weather and mood. Sometimes i find the hitch climber can jam up too, which the zz doesnt do. Just my opinion
  2. Ive no interest in bikes or the iom TT but i saw a video of a couple of bikers tacing in the TT and holy **** they were flying..i had no idea how quick they went. Respect to anyone racing motorbikes- that takes big balls
  3. I thinks its just with the mk 1&2 both prone to stress fractures its always been on my mind not to put any excess lateral load on to the zigzag-even though its a mk3. Maybe a bit of paranoia on my part
  4. I still use a prussik as a waist anchor, but i know the setup you mean,i just dont have an adjustable cambium saver is all,if i did that would be ideal yeah
  5. Its common sense,if you put strain on the side of the links they are more liable to break or deform. Im not stating they will break,i just prefer not to use the zigzag as a waiste anchor as i feel it could deform the links into bending or place excess forces upon the links This is not any sort of reference from petzl just my opinion
  6. In that case enjoy the zigzag, combined with a cambium saver or pulley and 11.7mm rope its fantastic. Only thing id say is im not confident using the zigzag as a waiste anchor when chogging down stems, lateral loading can help stress fracture the links.
  7. I cant seem to switch off, even when im not at work im still looking up at trees, looking at how id climb them, where id anchor in,how id get to the end of a limb etc. Even just tryin to id species im not sure of... I even jibber away to the wife if were out walking the dog,she rolls here eyes, glazes over and goes into the nodding head and sayin yeah honey symdrome. Anyone else do this or am i obsessed/mental...?
  8. Speak to the neighbour, introduce yourself have a word,if they rarely leave the house theyre probably not aware of the issue. While your there offer your sevices...win win
  9. I dont know why some people feel they have to chose between hitch climber or zigzag, both are now affordable so why not have both and switch between the two depending on your needs on the particular climb
  10. Great,could've watched much more...
  11. 11.7 tachyon with zigzag sometimes hitch climber too
  12. 11.7mm
  13. Cant you just knock up another potion harry potter style ???
  14. Arbtalk on facebook is goin mad with the news of this recall,a lot of guys dont want to give there 2510 back to echo. I hope the 2511 is as good as its predecessor.
  15. Anyone know anything about the 2511 yet.
  16. Sponge scourers..the scouring side obviously
  17. NPTC is the recognised body, lantra do run courses but usually have NPTC trainers and assesors. NPTC would be my recomendation for training/qualifications as its also recognised abroad. Bet you could tell a tale or two if you've been felling for 30 years eh rog
  18. Micks just sayin its not rated as a good climbers saw, tickets aside.
  19. Isnt it woefully underpowered ?
  20. Yeah i hear what your sayin but being scottish im pre disposed to being a tight arse and i couldnt knowingly make a purchase on a saw when im aware of issues with it. I run a 540xp and ms200's at work, but would love a little un with some grunt. No one seems to want to part with a 150 either but i would prefer a 2510. Dilemma....think i 'll hang fire and see what echo does first. Cheers for the advice
  21. Ive been following this thread because i fancy a little pruning saw and was eyeing the little echo....thats that then...ffs.
  22. Its wrong to assume the company is dangerous just on hearsay alone
  23. Nope-i dont mate. I dont worry about "people on the street being in danger" People are in danger every day in every day life,im not gonna lose sleep over a company thats supposedly falsley advertising they have NPTC trained staff.
  24. I said earlier in the thread,i dont care what other companies do,im only concernd with my team and what we do. Its up to a client to hire a reputable company and check references etc before they hire them to do the job.
  25. Seemed a tad aggressive to me. Anyway back too the point,if you feel passionatly about it then do something about it. The problem with these sort of threads, and im not saying its a bad thread,is you will get as much advice one way as another and at the end you'll end up more cofused than when you started. Ive seen lots of cowboys, bad practice bad tree work etc. Ive also seen some guys/gals with no qualifications but a **** load of experience who are really proffesional and do top notch work. Qualifications aint the end all be all ye know
