  1. I suspect plenty of Brits will do the same over here in France. The days of cheap convenient flights anywhere for the price of a sandwich are over. Peeps are not looking to get in planes and go far.
  2. It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good. As they say. My Brother in law’s estate agency business has gone into overdrive since the deconfinement due to metropolitan sorts looking to move to the provinces because they want to own a bigger house with a garden, rather than a hugely expensive flat in a city centre. Increased internet capacity and fast rail networks help in that regard as well. Businesses are realizing that many workers can work from home permanently so the daily commute for many is over for good. More time for family and garden. Better for the environment. Anyone got any other silver linings?
  3. Don’t think so, it was when I was ordering TW blades. So could have been one of three companies.
  4. I remember one company sending me out a little tube of copper grease with a batch of blades I bought.
  5. I think it’s called a Basswood tree in the states. A lime or linden tree here.
  6. If you think it’s expensive to use a professional, try using an amateur.
  7. If you can drive into London (Or any major conurbation in fact) everyday, waste hours sitting in traffic, then once there, drive around looking for parking, when you finally manage to get set up by the job you find a car parked underneath belonging to no one it seems. Telephone and power lines everywhere, and pedestrians leaping over signs and warning tape like brain damaged pheasants, followed by an equally torturous drive home, then the money is good. I think everyone should do it, plus some utility arb, just so there’s no moaning.
  8. If every tree was in the right place, we wouldn’t have a job.
  9. I think it’s clear they sent the wrong one.
  10. Sorry to read this Gary. Very sad day for you.
  11. I can’t see how you could have done much better. Tell them you’ll ‘monitor it’ Should be OK
  12. According to the missus.. ”always! Otherwise they won’t pollinate” Hope that’s clear,
  13. Use it a lot Steve, it’s good stuff, especially really well rotted stuff. BUT... You need to add lime otherwise it gets too acid and the brassicas suffer.
  14. Poor old girl. Igor has had a couple of funny turns lately, 5 minutes and it’s over. Something we live with I suppose.
  15. Mostly the wife’s work, I’m all about the flower beds, but I do the donkey work (rotovating etc)
  16. Potatoes have had a problem this year, cropping, but poorly, never flowered. Peas just being picked today, everything else good as gold. Sweet corn always a treat! Asparagus bed is worn out, might grass over and not bother replacing, can’t wait another 3 years, want to move by then. Should have planned to replace the current one a few years ago.
  17. Yeah, I figured that. I have injured myself twice in those trees, they are like no other when it comes to splitting and branch breakout. I am kinda prejudiced!
  18. They’re already dangerous bastards to climb when alive, dead I wouldn’t fancy it at all.
  19. If I was you I’d poison the stumps afterwards, otherwise you might end up with a forest of suckers.
