I find if you lift the bundles with a grab, rather than with the forklift, they sit a lot better.
The ones lifted by the forklift always seem to lean one way.
Pre tensioning before putting the banding also helps get them real tight.
Nice work

Remote control winch on the 25t splitter is a god send.
Do you have a video of the processor?

Time for a clear out arboriculturist, your box is full

Not if you wanted to sell more than a few hundred cubic metres a year. Would be near impossible to air dry 1000+ cubic metres a year at 20% moisture. To be honest though we will all be buying in kiln dried hardwood from Europe in 10/15 years time as there will be no hardwood left in the UK to process and Stove shops/manufactures have been telling people for years that softwood is rubbish and you should only burn hardwood.
Its not impossible to air dry large quantities.
I have far more external space to air dry logs than dry internal storage to store kd logs.

8 cube stacked is only 2x2x2m. The size of a small garden shed. It's endlessly amusing that people will spend thousands on a stove installation and then cheap out on wood storage.
Not according to one of my customers.
You have to allow for "bulking"
"bulking, is the gap left between the round of the log, and the square edge" followed by "dont you know anything"

Is there no difference in speed when it runs off 1 or the other? is it a big difference in price to have pto & electric motor?
She is quicker on the pto without a doubt, but more than adequate on the electric motor.
I forget how much extra it added, if i can find the quote, i will pm you
-
Why did you decide to get 1 that runs off pto and electric?
I have a generator running 99% of the time to power my yard, so i didnt want to run a tractor and generator at the same time.
The splitter has run off the tractor pto once in the past six months, and thats only because i was out splitting in the wood.
-
Ive been looking at those too, what model have u got?
Combinarion 25 CD-E, electric motor or pto driven with remote controlled winch.
-
extremely overpriced, in my opinion.
i went for a Uniforest instead and couldn't be happier with it
-
was thinking about them for the pallet shipping but it might be worth looking at pack fix type systems at that kind of money.
Thats where i ended up going.
It has its pros and cons

were they vented though they gave us a sample before but it was the solid sided potato bags
26 stripe vented bag.
Cant find prices, was a couple of years ago i bought them.
I think they were £8-10 per bag.
-
Its on the spec sheet, if you click on the link posted

I think it was the 26 stripe type vented bag.
I will check as still have some in the shed.
-
if you decide to order some up let us know the cost I could be tempted with a few that size.
Sg baker do bags that size.
I've prices somewhere.
I easily got a potato box worth, 1.7 cube in them.
They were surprisingly stable when filled with logs

Thats true Dave, but most load tend to be mixed anyway. Thing is, I'm not talking about babysitting the log buyer through the process, there has to be a level of individual responsibility, if you buy a load of rotten willow, then tough luck, you won't buy from that guy next time. All I am suggesting is that the consumer should know how much per cube he is paying, thats it. Maybe it would be nice to have a maximum moisture content, but that could be problematic. But at the very least you need to know how much you are getting, we simply wouldn't stand for this with any other commodity.
Have you ever bought a bag of chips from a fish and chip shop?
No given weight, volume, mass, chip count, etc.

Trak-met processor on ebay.
This one has an infeed belt, unlike the one in the video.
-
Why wouldn't it be?
Because you don't need a felling license to cut wind blow.
If you don't have a felling license, does the BSL recognise this timber as being sustainable?
I don't know myself, just wondering if anyone does?

I got about 25 with mine towing

and drying.
I have a drum dryer potentially for sale.
1500kgs per hour, has a cyclone which separates the fine dust.
The fine dust can then be put through a briquette press

How are you getting on with the cracker?
-
Which processor are you thinking about?
I've always fancied a mill, as you always get a lot of nice timber that could easily be milled in to beams, sleepers, posts etc.
Dunno how much demand there is for untreated beams and sleepers?
Always seems a waste nice quality timber going for firewood and chip.
Also would be handy for pallet and,box repairs.
-
That's pretty cheap.
How long will it take you to pay back the processor and associated bits at that kind of money?
I find softwood sales unpredictable, especially in the wholesale market.
You'd be better employing someone part-time to deal with the pubic and sell the logs at £60+ per bag.
Rethink required, billet bundles are too heavy

I find the Knotti difficult to get tight, even pre tensioning.
Its a wee bit of a faff as well, I find.
Cant beat the proper strapping machine.
