Looks like you can get the Velcro lower straps but not the old style leather buckles like I have. Anyone know if they are interchangeable…? Maybe the Velcro is better than buckles

Hey all Bottoms straps are getting knackered now and want to replace. Can’t seem to get hold of actual Distel straps and the Buckingham ones I just got from Honeys don’t seem all that good compared to the originals, and I think they’ll be going back. Anyone replaced theirs? Any suggestions on alternatives? Seems a bit mad to buy new just for some straps Cheers

Just wondering if this loose wire would affect the performance of the saw? Somehow it seems like a cleaner crisper saw now. Maybe it’s all in my head…

Thanks. Yeah I imagine it’s the general toll to an extent. I swop all the time between srt and drt depending on what I’m faced with. I just noticed recently having had a spell without srt access that my wrists were feeling a bit better and then did a day with a few ascents and left wrist was left really aching. So that’s why I’m now questioning my technique. Who knows, maybe I’m just getting too old (44)…..

Thanks, like the bicycle analogy. I’m using a zigzag chicane setup. I’ve used a neck tether, lanyard over shoulder and the 4srt chester at various points to advance hitch. Not sure what is best at the moment. I can get in a good rhythm with ascent and feel I am pretty upright to be honest, but obviously not enough so just trying to perfect it and save my wrists.

Hi folks I’ve been using a knee ascender / foot ascender combo to access trees for a while now. I’m realising my technique is hurting my wrists. I must be using my arms too much so I’m looking at how to improve. My thoughts are 1, use a hand ascender like Kong Futura purely to give my hands something bigger to grip than the rope 2, use some sort of pulley on the chest harness to hold the rope and hold my body more upright so I’m not having to hold myself upright. Any thoughts??

Thanks adw Is the screw you mean the one by the clip for the casing, or the one which I’ve labelled 2? Or no odds which way?

Thanks chaps. I had the leaky oil tank gasket replaced recently so guess the guy missed this one. Rolls eyes [emoji6]

Any ideas? I’ve labelled the loose wire 1. Is it meant to be under a nut like the one numbered 2, that appears to be the ground cable on the parts diagram? The saw is functional so I’m assuming it can’t be *that* important? Thanks [emoji106]

Thanks for responding. I didn’t look at gills. I will next time! I’m hoping it may get bigger and easier to identify but I probably won’t be on site at the time. Trees are healthy right now.

Found at base of coastal redwood. Could just be growing in all the litter at base. Any suggestions? Thanks

You say that Mark but the serial numbers are between 18L and 21G....that's 3 years of zigzags to be inspected and possibly returned

Beat me to it! My zigzag plus is about a month old and not slipping as such but sometimes when I lean into it I get sense of a minor movement and then it holds. I thought it was in my head but this makes me wonder if it’s real haha

Bigger stems you need to generate more flick. This can be harder with wire core flip lines. You do need a fair bit of slack for this as well. You could carry two and just use one until you need the other navigate an awkward section. But it is hard to flick a line all the way around a big stem at height. For leaners, having a mainline with a choke knot as a backup can be useful. You don’t want to slide round to the underneath. But if you go then at least you can get down. If skinny enough you can wrap the flip line all the way around the stem which holds you in one place better as you can’t slide around. For both, if you can throw line in above the climb will be much easier!
