  1. I am using Pva to seal the ends and so far it's working well
  2. It would have to be seasoned for indoor use how about for a garden table?
  3. That was my thinking to I am pleased so far some nice timber coming off this tree and I am still to cut the best bits off trunk to cut.

  5. Yes it is Steve, out the main trunk is the plan, going to do a five a quarter cut in the top half then cut it up using the vertical mill, for the first time.
  6. Unfortunately i am only the milling man the timber is not mine, but never the less it is learning me what I can and cannot do, thank you all.
  7. This is one off the limbs cut up and is going to be used as cross members for a fence, to keep the sheep in their field.
  8. Yes I am going to take the bad end off the main trunk to give me room for the mill to exist. The rest is being saw up for use around the farm, as benches and tables as it is a large bunk house. So their in need off benches and tables for out side. The pieces I have cut have warped with in minutes off being cut.
  9. Today has been spend getting the trunk ready for milling, trying to get the trunk as strait as possible for the milling.The main part of the trunk is fifteen ft long and 50 inch girth, their is two other pieces each around eight ft long.
  10. Is it short off a one way valve fitting on the flow assuming it got a flow and return?
  11. For those that said it was a sycamore, their right. As the farmer walked up to me today and said."it looks well the sycamore, you have cut" Its now beening used as a bench at the farmhouse.
  12. The table and benches are really smart. Nice workmanship. I was just showing the lady that owns the large beech tree, I am about to mill, how it will mill on a log in the field. As I am learning I could not tell what tree it was.
  13. Yes it been down some seven years.one small piece of bark was left on and was scaley in appearance.
  14. Going to start milling this big beech this week, the trunk can not be parted from the rest of the tree due to safety.As a lone worker.any tips?
  15. I cut this today as a demonstration and wondered is it beech or sycamore. And off any possible users.

  17. I am busy reading up on the net about using veg oil as a bar lubricant. As this is a practice in some us state's as they are not allowed to use normal bar oil.
  18. A piece of beech cut with 3120xp and a 50 inch cannon bar.
  19. Just learning the trade at the moment, milling with a 3120xp and 50 inch cannon bar.
