  1. Well put Stubby. I did realise that Joe. He's fair game I suppose.
  2. But not to the same degree of toxicity Joe.
  3. It still makes uncomfortable reading though, Mick.
  4. Whether I'm missing the point of this thread, I'm not sure. It started off, quite rightly so, in pointing out that there is a lot of nastiness emerging in the past year or so on Arbtalk. It looks to me that the same nastiness is now showing up on this, it's only a matter of time before this thread gets out of hand. It really does spoil what is a good forum. Life's too short for all this. Here endeth the lesson.
  5. Gary, it was a real pleasure to go to work today. I was the only Brit there, at 1200, everybody from the client, tree surgeon, horse handlers and the horses, wrapped it in for grub. Only the daft Englishman carried on another two hours. About 1500, the tree surgeon sidled up to.me and asked if I wanted a beer! He then went back to work cutting. It's a different world here!
  6. Very interesting day with the two Percherons brought in to drag the timber off the client's property. Mainly brash today but tomorrow will be the trunks, unfortunately I'm going back to grind out the remaining stumps on Wednesday so will miss that. Beautiful animals. Really steady and calm.
  7. Did mine as well, Gary. Nice, dry day but cold wind.
  8. Shut up and get back up that chimney, it won't clean itself.
  9. No, you're wrong, you are allowed a street urchin, that's what they are bred for. Buy one get one free at Lidl this week.
  10. I thought you Buddhists were tolerant people?
  11. I must be getting soft in my old age, but I can't see the harm in this bloke. He's not toxic or nasty, a bit of a dreamer maybe. It brings some light relief to this forum. I think he's taking the mick with a lot of his replies. Vesp and Matelot could be quite nasty at times, this fella isn't, he takes all the crap thrown at him without flinching. Nobody will take his "advice" seriously anyway. I'm first in line to buy The Book.
  12. Oh, very nice, and that from a man in your State of Grace. Charming!
  13. Christ Alive, Eggs! Are you in a state of Zen? Very wise comment. You're not wandering around Suffolk in your saffron robes again, are you?
  14. You're supposed to have the chimney swept every year, by a professional, and have the bill to hand in case of this happening for the insurance. Also before you hand over the house, when it's sold, the chimney should be cleaned. I was working there the 13th January and they were still lodging at the mother's house, so they couldn't have been in staying in their place above a few days before this. Very lucky to get out of that.
  15. Ad a bit of a shock just now. I'd put my advert on Facebook and one of my customer's liked it. I couldn't place him so tabbed on his name. Then saw this. They'd only just moved in after buying the house whilst staying with the mother in law in the next town. They were woken up early hours with the house on fire, that's their bedroom window on fire. I've just been in touch and the cause was an incorrectly fitted wood burner. It was already in situ when they bought the house. Apparently there wasn't sufficient insulation fitted. They'd been gutting the house of rotten woodwork and generally trying to get it in good order. Poor buggers, just moved out from London.
