  2. i do like the look of them dean, i was thinking that they were the ones with loads of seats in the back. the ones in the pics look well cool, are they available like that over here?. hope the accelerators dont stick LOL.
  3. what are the rules on smoking? i know not near fuel/oil machines etc but whats the score as the workplace is a garden/ wood etc??
  4. I am just in the process of taking on an employee for the first time. He has worked with me for the last 12 mths, he got 30/31/32/34 and wood chipper, he has done the 39/39 but not had the assesment as yet. he works hard most of the time and is keen. sure he has bad points but deep down he is trying. sure im have to give him a kick up the ass sometimes but we were all 19 once. the one thing that pees me off is smoking. thinks he can spark up whenever he wants.
  5. Lets see if the rice burners are still going in 60 years. how many land cruisers have chip bodys/ tool boxes etc. as far as a working vehicle landrovers get my vote, if its for sitting on a motorway croozing then the jap wins.
  6. sitting in my landrover dealers warm, dry, show room drinking free coffee while they fix my landy, turns out it was the fuel pump. anyway they did it there and then for me, even though they a booked up solid for the next couple of weeks. They understand that its my work vehicle and have done what they can to keep me going. 10/10 for customer service.
  7. Buy a tracked machine, sounds like you will need it with that amount of stumps. also the size of stump you have wouldnt take to long with a good machine. check out the carlton range.
  8. they ticked the service sheet to say they had wheels off and checked pads, i was taught that if pads were low and wouldnt last till next service then they should be replaced as in the long run its safer and saves you money coz you dont have to change the discs as well as the pads.
  9. I would welcome advice/comments on this problem. I have a defender TD5 130, 53 reg, 40,000 miles. I took it to my local land rover dealer in December 09, it had 37,000 on the clock. As it was a 53 reg they said it needed a 72,000 service due to its age. They carried out the service and that was that. 23rd March 2010 my brakes started making a funny noise, i took the rear wheel off and found that the rear o/s disc was fu***d and the pad was worn down to metal. I looked in my service book and the job sheet from the service was in and on it there is a list of jobs done: road wheels removed and brake pads checked. Now 3,000 miles later they are knackered. as a trained mechanic i feel that this is not acceptable, they should have advised me that new pads will be needed before the next service or to have told me they should be done at the service. i am now gonna have to take the day off in the morning and go and sort it out, more lost time.
  10. Get some BFG Mud Terrains, they are the best, i have had them on every landy i have had. i did try kumo mud terrains and they were crap imho. at least you got out in the end.

  16. depends what you pay per tonne and how much you sell them for. say £35 at roadside plus haulage say £7 or £8 per tonne, then how much you sell em on for say 65-70 per m3 and do the math.
