  1. Good point, I will enquire about that Dave. Cheers.
  2. Found a 4" crack in my tractor block today:(
  3. Just found out my tractors knackered. The Block has a 4" crack in it:( the tractor is an IMT, copy of a massy 135. Just gotta weigh up what to do, the mechanic says we could do a temp fix with epoxy resin this would be cheap but no guarantee how long it will last, next is the option of a second hand block if we can get one to fit, it would then also need piston liners and etc and work doing to the head. Ideally I would get another tractor, a 4wd with loader. Ohh well, keep calm and carry on:)
  4. I allways get payment on delivery and stipulate this when they order. I'm still doing 4 or five loads a week so it's a nice income booster and I enjoy it.
  5. I used to have a husky sg13 stump grinder and I got quoted £100 for the 2 brake pads on its disc.
  6. I often give the customer a price to do the job and if it's good hardwood like Ash, Beech, Sycamore etc I will knock money off for the timber, I allways cover my cost before knocking anything off. I have a good stock of wood and plenty of loyal customers to buy it. It doesn't cost me that much to process into logs, and it all goes in the pot, that's what business is about isn't it?
  7. And? I said to the fella 400 quid and I get the wood, it would fell into the field, I don't see how that's a problem, I will sell the wood and make money an get paid for the job too.
  8. And £400 quid:)
  9. Yep, it's ash and I would do it on a week end, what's yet point??
  10. What model is that please mate? I have been looking at wallenstein and wondering if they are any good, they look well built.
  11. You should have said why the heck did you call me then!! LoL, what dicks there are out there.
  12. Phwoar!!
  13. If I didn't laugh I would cry mate, I'm trying to de crease stress by laughing:)
  14. That was my point mate. that's why I found it funny.
  15. My mate cuts grass and charges £25 per hour and has work coming out of his ears, he strims round then mows with a Hayter harrier roller mower and then clips the edges. Takes the grass away.
  16. Maybe a crow had made a nest in the chimney??
  17. Very professional, if some one came to do a job for me in any trade and said it would take 4 times longer than a pro outfit but cost the same I would show them the door.
  18. The point of my post was that when I heard I laughed because I know how had you have to work to make a good company work, it takes alot of time and effort, I have built up my company over the last 10 years and have a good customer base. I have seen this before and when something breaks they have no money to fix it. If people are stupid enough to do it then let them.
  19. That's up to them though, they won't last long like that.
  20. ive just heard of a guy and his partner setting up a tree surgery company and they are going to charge £10 per hour each. what a joke, how will they afford insurance? public liability and employers liability and running costs? What a joke:lol:
  21. Yes I sold it to get one that's easy to move around, the old one was to heavy for me on my own, I want to be able to take it to jobs and also a new wood I look after.
  22. Please can anyone recommend a good quality road tow splitter, I want it to operated vertical or horizontal and have a honda engine (not one of those Chinese things off fleabay!!) thanks in advance..
  23. You could pick something up for 15k maybe, I had a valmet with roof mount botex that cost 18k, if you have the work they are great. You could just get a tractor with 3 point linkage crane and still have trailer, or front pto with chipper?? Crane on the back. There are lots of options with tractors.
  24. Get a landy!!
  25. There is one on arbtalk for sale and a few on fleabay.
